Forget About EVs, Tesla Just Cemented Itself as a Top Luxury Automaker

Tesla has worked hard to become one of the most successful all-electric car brands in the world, and now they’ve taken another title. Tesla recently earned the title of Best-Selling Luxury Car Brand in America for 2021, and they’re not stopping there.

 is proof that if you can dream it up and work hard enough, good will eventually happen. Though Tesla has worked to make a name for themselves in the EV sector, the level of tech and finishes in their cars has also made them a contender in the
luxury car
 world. 
2021 was Tesla's year as they managed to grab the Best-Selling Luxury Car Brand in America. How did Tesla earn the top spot with the smallest company? Hard work!

Best-Selling Luxury Brand in America in 2021

Tesla is well known for its EVs and for its CEO, Elon Musk. Years have gone into the Tesla company in order to grow it to where it could produce the most wanted luxury vehicles in America.
Kelly Blue Book
 explains that Tesla is one of the few car companies that does not report its American sales, but rather reports a global total of sales.
It does report its individual country sales to countries that require the numbers and so the assessors can estimate its sales for America. After the last release of the global numbers, it is estimated that Tesla sold approximately 352,471 vehicles in 2021. With these numbers, it overcomes larger companies like BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes.
BMW came in a close second reporting over 336,644, knocking the usual winner down a peg. Lexus was pushed down to third with 304,476. Mercedes doesn't even get to be on the award’s platform as they are bounced down to fourth with 276,102. The 2021 numbers are all impressive, but Tesla's are even more impressive because of its small size.

Despite the size of Tesla, having less than 71,000 employees according to
Craft Co
., it has continued to produce vehicles that please the public. Tesla produces four models, all EVs, luxurious and filled with advanced technology. The SUV Model Y is estimated to be the highest of the Tesla luxury vehicles sold with about 190, 000 in 2021. The Model 3 comes in around 122,000.
This is a huge achievement in this time with the chip shortage and other difficulties weighing on Tesla. It has overcome 19 years of not producing a profit to finally report a gain for 2021. In prior years Tesla survived by selling emission credits to other automakers, waiting for their efforts to come to fruition.

Even though its business is just now becoming profitable, the dedication and research that Tesla has put into its luxury vehicles mark the EV producer as one of the strongest competitors in the luxury field. Even though they have been able to survive thus far through the chip shortage, Tesla will certainly be tested in 2022.
With almost every major automaker producing and releasing an EV this year, will Tesla be able to stay on top of the major brands in both EVs and luxury? Only time will be able to tell. Tesla has a plan to
hold production of future models
 to help with their current line sales as the chip shortage continues. This may be the route that brings in their profits and increases their sales.
