Some of the world's best ideas have been scribbled down or sketched on a napkin. Hennessey says their great EV idea was sketched out on a bank statement. Hennessey Special Vehicles likes to create projects that are limited edition

Hennessey and the start of Project Deep Space

Hennessey Special Vehicles is part of Hennessey Performance, a tuning car company specializing in making cars go faster. They’ve been around since 1991 under racer John Hennessey.
They’ve produced a few cars, like the Venom GT and Venom F5 hypercar, which are currently taking reservations. A hypercar goes by a couple of names, supercar, and exotic car; essentially, it’s luxurious, expensive, and high-performing.
Many hypercar developers run into the same roadblock when it comes to EVs. Weight. The battery for an EV is heavy.
The centuries of experimenting and innovation aren’t as caught up with the EVs as with internal combustion engine vehicles. That weight affects the aerodynamics of the car and its ability to stop and turn, among other variables, which usually leaves sports cars, hypercar, and luxury car makers puzzling.
Hennessey has decided just not to do it. When thinking of adding a limited edition EV to their creations, they tossed the labels hypercar and sports car out the window.
Instead, in October of 2019, they grabbed their designer with a history in aerospace design, a bank statement and started designing. No four-wheel drive, no four wheels, no traditional seating, no conventional doors. They wanted something new that hadn’t been done before.

The Project Deep Space’s one-of-a-kind specs

Project Deep Space is about luxury. But not the luxury you find in a car. Think private jet. Project designs show it with six electric motors, each outputting 400 horsepower per motor with six wheels and six-wheel drive. Like a race car, the driver’s in a center driving position
How does this affect the seating? Welcome to the diamond-designed interior with ample leg space in mind. In the middle flanking the driver, behind are two single seats, and in the back is what is commonly used in aerospace design, the VVIP seat. Aka, the very, very important person seat.
This is the seat you want to be in. While the car is expected to be fun to drive, the authentic fun experience, according to Hennessey, is this is the car you want to be driven in. In addition, this VVIP seat is a 0 gravity seat, which means it can lay flat and is built and designed to reduce travel fatigue. If you’re on a long road trip and get tired of sitting, that’s where you want to be.
The car will have a super long wheelbase, around 220 inches and possibly 20 feet long. The goal is that the wheels will support the weight of that electric battery. The car is expected to be a Hyper GT with 50% more drift because of that extra axel and because it can have smaller tires. The doors will be in a Gull-wing style. This means they will rise directly up, as it’s one of the only feasible ways for all the passengers to enter the diamond interior.
Hennessy plans to start production in 2026 for Project Deep Space and expects this EV to be the most expensive one on the market, coming in at $3 million and on a limited run of 105 expected and planned to be built.
