The Porsche Macan EV was originally supposed to arrive for the 2023 model year, and the expectation was that prices would start around $80,000. Unfortunately, the Macan EV is currently not expected to arrive until 2024.
As the EV segment of the automotive industry continues to grow, all the most legendary car manufacturers are scrambling to push the limits of EV performance. Especially now that EVs are putting out horsepower and acceleration numbers that most muscle cars can only dream of, it should be no surprise that the Porsche Macan SUV is getting an EV update.
Unfortunately, a software production delay at Volkswagen means we’ll have to wait until 2024 to try out the Porsche E-Macan. Until then, allow

2024 Macan EV pricing information

The only thing anyone can offer at this point in terms of pricing information is a guess—and based on recent market trends and Porsche’s pricing habits, we expect the 2024 Macan EV to start at around $80,000.
We still don’t know much about the Macan, but we can gather some clues by looking at the also-upcoming Audi A6 e-tron, which is being built on the same all-new EV platform that Volkswagen is calling Premium Platform Electric. Pricing for both models is expected to be competitive with Tesla’s Model S sports car.

What will be the cheapest Macan EV?

The Macan EV is expected to be released in three trim levels. Here’s how those trims will likely line up, according to Car and Driver:
  • Base: $80,000 estimated starting price
  • S: $90,000 estimated starting price
  • GTS: $100,000 estimated starting price
These estimates may be a bit optimistically low, so don’t be surprised by a starting price closer to the $100,000 mark for the base model.

Is a Macan EV worth it?

The Porsche Macan EV’s powertrain is still a mystery in many ways, as are many other aspects of its design. It’s expected to be an improvement on the electric drivetrain of the Porsche Taycan, which delivers plenty of performance prowess in its own right.
To put it in perspective, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S can accelerate from zero to 60 in just 2.4 seconds, thanks to its two motors’ combined output of 750 horsepower. Even the single motor gets to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds with 469 horsepower—and it costs half the price.
But will the Macan EV be worth it? Well, as in many aspects of life, whether or not something is worth what you paid for depends primarily on how it’s going to be used. If you’re looking for the Porsche of EV SUVs, then the Macan is worth it. After all, we’re rarely if ever unimpressed by the products put forward by the established Porsche factory line.
Let your heart guide you! After all, cars are meant to be fun, and what could be more fun than driving an electricity-powered Porsche SUV?

What is the horsepower of a Macan EV?

We haven’t heard much from Porsche on power, although we’ve gotten used to seeing EVs in this price range with horsepower ratings easily ranging between 500 and 1000. For example, a basic Tesla Model X gets 670 horsepower from its dual motor system, but makes 1020 horsepower as a three-motor Model X Plaid.
The Taycan’s engines are more efficient than the ones on the Model X, so regardless of how many motors are involved in the Macan EV, we should only expect only Porsche-level—read: “market-leading”—performance. Expect fully-loaded models to scoot to 60 mph in about 3 seconds—the standard for high-performance EVs at this point.

What is the range of the Macan EV?

The Macan is supposed to have more range than the Porsche Taycan EV, whose most efficient variant has a highway range of about 225 miles, according to the EPA. For perspective, Tesla Model X’s standard range is 351 miles, a number that is a more likely target for the Macan EV’s engineering team.

Is the Macan EV reliable?

Only time will tell, since no one has gotten to drive a Porsche Macan EV yet. But we do have some insights on what to expect based on Porsche’s current track record for reliability:
  • Porsche gets below-average reliability ratings. The gas-powered Macan only gets a 1.5 rating out of 5 on RepairPal, the lowest score of all 11 current luxury-compact SUVs on the market.
  • Electric vehicles tend to be more reliable than gas-powered vehicles. On the bright side, EVs are generally more reliable than gas-powered vehicles, since their drivetrains are more durable and less subject to wear-and-tear.
