Pro: Superb handling

The Jaguar I-PACE handles more like a sports car than an SUV, accelerating almost instantly and creating standard all-wheel drive with the help of two electric motors.

Instant acceleration is an impressive feature in any case, but for an electric SUV, it’s incredible. Jaguar has gone above and beyond to ensure the I-PACE doesn’t just look like a luxury car but handles like one, too.

Pro: Faster charging on newer models

The 2022 Jaguar I-PACE comes with a DC fast-charging port that allows the owner to recharge up to 80% of the battery in as little as 40 minutes.

Even with a typical power outlet, however, the new 2022 model can recharge a dead battery in 8.6 hours (compared to 12.6 hours in the previous model) thanks to a new 11.0-kW charger replacing the old 7.0-kW.

Con: Lower MPG equivalent

The Jaguar I-PACE has an estimated 76 MPGe. While this is comparable with the Audi e-Tron’s at 78 MPGe, both are significantly lower than most other new models on the market—the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge has an MPGe of 87 and costs about $12,000 less than the I-PACE.

While a 76 MPGe may be enough to get from one place to another, the Jaguar I-PACE still compares unfavorably to other luxury electric SUVs.
