Today, we’re seeing more electric vehicles (EVs) on the roads than ever before. And that makes sense—many Americans are interested in investing in
environmentally friendly
, fuel-efficient, and safe vehicles.
But while all these perks spark interest, electric vehicles are still fairly new to drivers, and many that are interested in an electric vehicle might not know where to start when it comes to actually getting one in their driveway.
That’s why General Motors has launched a website called EV Live, to answer common questions and make the industry more accessible to all electric vehicle shoppers and drivers. The platform could help
revolutionize the industry
and make EVs even more widespread.

What is GM’s EV Live?

The
General Motors Newsroom
describes EV Live as an immersive, virtual experience that allows participants to interact one-on-one with electric vehicle specialists to learn and get questions answered—for free. The platform is easy to use and can be accessed from any internet-connected mobile or desktop device.
Included in EV Live is information on just about any electric vehicle topic. The platform allows specialists to answer questions from users in real-time via a virtual chat. Beyond that, specialists can also give a virtual tour of the EV Live studio to users, which features actual electric vehicles, plus displays of home charging, public charging, batteries, and more.
If you already have an electric vehicle, EV Live specialists can answer questions about ownership, plus guide you through electric vehicle nuances like setting up home charging. If you need additional help, specialists can refer you to installers and other professionals that can actually come to your home.

How do I use EV Live?

EV Live is a free website that is easy to navigate and simple to use. To get started on EV Live, navigate to the website from any computer or mobile device with internet access. From there, you’ll be able to schedule a live tour with a specialist for a later date, or if a specialist is currently available, start a live tour right then and there.
Currently, live tours are being offered in a strictly one-to-one format, which means during yours, you can tailor your tour to your questions and concerns about electric vehicles. You can use a chat or voice feature to interact with your specialist. Later in 2022, EV Live will host group and prerecorded tours.
EV Live hours are 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. EST Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST on Friday, and 11 a..m. to 7 p.m. EST on Saturday and Sunday. These hours give participants a variety of options to connect with a specialist!

Why is EV Live important?

EV Live is making the world of electric vehicles more accessible to drivers everywhere. As
Car and Driver
points out, with this business endeavor General Motors isn’t trying to sell more General Motors electric vehicles—they’re selling the electric vehicle experience. The platform is an educational one, meant to make the world of electric vehicles a little less intimidating.
EV Live can help make electric vehicles more widely adopted and expand the ecosystem. Not only is this a good thing for the environment, but drivers can also save on fuel and
repair costs
in the long term. EV Live is hoping to help create a better driving world for everyone.
