Wondering what Ford has been up to lately? Well, a lot has been happening behind this Michigan-based auto magnate's ambitions.
Surprisingly,
Ford
is working both futuristically and regressively. It is breathing life into its vintage machines with the latest engines. A good example is the F-100 Eluminator.
The F-100 Eluminator is a concept truck whose exterior designs are borrowed from the 1978 F-100 pickup. But there’s not much else in common when it comes to the two trucks.
The Eluminator is a 281-hp
Mustang Mach-E GT
e-crate electric motor. So basically, Ford has awakened its old-timer in a 21st century EV style.

has all the info on the Ford F-100 Eluminator.

The exterior of the Ford F-100 Eluminator is still in the '70s

The refreshing exterior of the new F-100 still glorifies the ‘70s. The pickup dropped the previous model's split grille and adopted a larger single piece. Headlamps and turn signals were pushed outside the grille.
A new chrome-plated hood was secured in place with hinges above the grille. The hood gave way to a voluminous engine, a small battery, and a fuel tank.
The pickup's flat open bed was operational and could carry around a lot. On it, a simple tailgate swung downwards to open. Next to the tailgate but still on the outer side panel of the bed were square hazard lights.

Awakening a classy vintage in 21st-century style

The F-100 was born in a time and era when piston engines were considered more powerful than electric motors. The cumbersome 4.0 liter plus V-8 engines in F-100s are currently being phased out by agile motors, each weighing just 205 lb.
This is a massive shift in power, bearing in mind the old engines only produced little more than 150 horsepower and were unmitigatedly inefficient. In its new Mustang Eluminator motors, the F-100 will roll around with 480 horsepower and 634 lb.-ft of torque.
Though we are not sure, it's said that the Ford F-100 Eluminator can fly from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds similar to the Mustang Mach-E.
Not only was the F-100's power updated, but also some parts were customized.
Ford
states that it was designed by the department of Ford Performance and collaboratively built with MLe Racecars on a custom Roadster Shop chassis.
According to Eric Cin, Ford's global director for Vehicle Personalization, Accessories, and Licensing, personalization through electrification of gasoline cars will be around a little longer.
He stated that Ford owners love personalizing their cars, from changing looks to boosting power. So, this means perhaps the F-100 pickup is piloting a vintage vehicle's revival journey with electric motors.

Ford's mentality on electrification

Ford is one of the many companies splitting their operations between gas, hybrid, and EV production lines.
The company has already established a dedicated line to build new EVs, and its endeavors have been successful. The F-150 Lightning, the Mustang Mach-E, and the E-transit are examples of cars waving goodbye to gasoline.
The F-100 has just joined the EV line in a DIY style. Instead of waiting for Ford's pimped up pickup, you can build your own with the two e-crate motors, which cost $3,900 each.
However, you will also need an 88-kilowatt-hour Mustang battery, traction inverters, and power controls to fully electrify your car.
If you sum together the cost of the pickup and new fittings, you may pay over $30K for the Ford F-100 Eluminator.
