background
If you couldn’t tell by the name,
Fiat
is an Italian car brand that made its debut into the United States market in 2012. The small, compact car brand has done surprisingly well over the last 10 years in the U.S. especially when it comes to electric cars
The Fiat Centoventi, which means one hundred and twenty in Italian, is the car brand’s electric car meant to celebrate its 120th year in business, and the all electric dream car is a pretty great birthday celebration.

Fiat Centoventi history

Fiat unveiled the concept for the Fiat Centoventi at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. According to the
Fiat website
, the brand believes in the future of the electric car and is on the road to zero emissions. The car brand looks at the Fiat Centoventi as an electric utility concept that recalls the design of most compact crossovers and lays the foundation for a car of the future.
Additionally, Fiat lists five key reasons that it wanted to break into the electric car industry, which are also beneficial to drivers. Fiat states electric cars are good for drivers and the environment due to: free access to limited traffic areas, reduced fuel costs, ease of driving, comfort, and maintenance.
For all of these reasons, Fiat decided to celebrate 120 years of business in the automotive world with the all electric Fiat Centoventi. And, not only did the brand want to create an electric car, it also wanted to create a budget electric car.
The Fiat Centoventi will retail for less than the
Fiat 500e
, Fiat’s other electric car, which sells for about $28,000. With a price point lower than that, the Fiat Centoventi will be one of the least expensive electric vehicles on the market.

Fiat Centoventi exterior

The style of the Fiat Centoventi is inspired in many ways by the Fiat Panda. Oliver Francois, Global President of Fiat, told
Auto Express
, “It’s [the Fiat Centoventi] is another approach to full electric. So I think we have a bright future in the full electric approach to city cars, through the 500e and through the more non-traditional approach with this minimalist, lower priced Centoventi that is very Panda inspired.”
The overall look of the Centoventi is futuristic, with large wheel arches, a multi-bar grille on the nose, and a boxy look. Drivers will have the option to choose between plastic body and roof panels, depending on their specific preferences.
The Centoventi can accommodate up to four battery packs. Each module offers 100 km of range, with the fifth positioned between the front and rear seats.

Fiat Centoventi interior

Fiat describes the Centoventi interior as “decontented.” The car has a driver’s seat and rear bench of passengers, but where you’d expect the passenger seat to be you’ll find a large mounting bracket. Fiat says this is for versatility, so drivers can turn it into a passenger seat, storage space, pet carrier, and more. Plus, drivers can change the seat fabrics in the Centoventi.
The dashboard is also customizable, with different sized instrument clusters. There’s a standard digital display and the option for a 20-inch display as well. The dashboard also has storage modules, cup holders, smartphone docks and more.
