Does Rivian have an electric truck?

Short answer: Yes.
The R1T is Rivian’s all-electric mid-size pickup packed full of power. While 650 R1Ts were produced and delivered in 2021, the bulk of their production is set for late 2023.
The Rivian R1T is a heck of a vehicle in every way. It’s spacious, fast, capable, efficient, and provides an epic drive. And for drivers looking for luxury in an electric vehicle, it seamlessly combines luxury with rugged, toughness, and durability. Unless you just have your heart set on a full-size pickup, there’s not much to fault about the R1T.
The R1T’s first model year strays from the EV norm. The truck is powered by a quad-motor setup and a 128.9-kWh battery—larger than any other Ev on the market, including Tesla. But if you’re looking for something a little more reserved, they’ll have a smaller standard battery and a larger "Max" battery entering production next year, along with a dual-motor R1T option
But despite its pure performance and popularity, the price may be a significant deterrent for some buyers. Rivian increased the starting price of the R1T∫ only to be met with backlash from those who’d already made reservations.
Despite the high price tag, Rivian is still fighting for the top of the totem pole against some of the most high-profile EV brands like
Tesla
and
Lucid
. But on and off-road, the Rivian R1T holds its ground and enters the electric market with a solid bang.

What we know about the Rivian R1T so far

The first production R1Ts rolled off the production line towards the latter half of 2021, and it was everything anyone could ever want from a pickup truck—ruggedness, durability, functionality, and performance, all packed into a mid-size electric pickup. While the 2021 R1T received mostly stellar reviews, the 2022 model has big expectations and isn’t expected to disappoint.
With a unique quad-motor setup powering each wheel, the 2022 R1T boasts a 128.9-kWh battery capable of propelling the truck at blazing fast speeds. With an all-wheel-drive setup and up to 835 hp, the R1T can hit 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, making it one of the fastest pickups on the market. Plus, its adjustable air suspension can reach from 8 to 14 inches of clearance, meaning it can tackle even the roughest terrain.
The R1T is only available in a quad-motor setup, but a dual-motor 600-hp trim will eventually join the lineup. The four motors allow for a Tank Turn, which signals to the electric motors to rotate the left wheels in the opposite direction of the right ones to make the truck spin on its axis.
Here’s a rundown of some of the features of the R1T:
  • Powertrain: 4 permanent-magnet synchronous AC motors
  • Combined power: 835 hp
  • Combined torque: 908 lb-ft
  • Range: 260 to 400+ miles (depends on motor)
  • Ground clearance: Up to 14.9 inches
  • Towing capacity: 11,000 pounds
  • 0-60 mph: 3.3 seconds
  • Drive mode features: 4 on-road and 4 off-road
  • Storage: 62 cubic feet
  • Fuel economy: 70/744/66 MPGe (Combined/City/Highway)
  • Driver+ driver assistance system

Rivian’s electric future

Established in 2009, Rivian has only ever been an electric car company, and they don’t have a vast history behind them. But despite their relatively new entry into the automotive world, they’re primed to turn it upside down with the release of the all-electric R1T pickup truck, followed by the all-electric R1S SUV. Both vehicles are well equipped for on- and off-road driving and come standard with semi-autonomous driving capability.
Rivian may be the new kid in town, but they’ve been working on their EVs for some time, and their hard work has paid off. While they’ve only released two electric vehicles so far, they have big plans to dominate the EV market.

The future of car insurance shopping

If you’re looking to reduce car expenses, trading in your gas-guzzler for a hybrid or electric vehicle is a great switch. But there’s one downfall that can make going green a challenge—finding cheap
car insurance for a green car
. Because maintenance and parts typically cost more than gas vehicles, on top of a higher book value, insuring your EV can compensate for all the money saved on gas.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
