The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV has a starting MSRP of $31,500…for now.

Chevy will roll out the 2023 Chevy Bolt at a significant price reduction in due time. After a series of vehicle fires and production cessation, many wondered when—if ever—the Bolt would make a return. The 2023 model is confirmed to debut at Chevrolet dealerships in late summer to early fall of 2022.

According to Chevy’s VP of marketing, the Bolt EV will eventually leave the lineup. But for now, the only thing going away is cost: the 2023 Chevy Bolt will drop $5,900 from its price tag and have a starting cost of $25,600. Sure, this is an already staggering amount, but what’s more shocking is that the 2022 Bolt also shed $5,500 off its cost from the 2021 model year.

With MSRPs dropping left and right, the Bolt EV is undoubtedly a highly affordable vehicle. Many competitors, such as the 2022 Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model Y, and Ford Mustang Mach-E, all sport much higher starting MSRPs between $43,895 and $65,990.

But just because the Bolt EV is comparatively affordable, does that mean it’s worth it? The Bolt EV doesn’t qualify for a federal tax credit—but it’s hard to argue the nearly $11,000 price cut since 2021.
