Can-Am dropped some big news recently. It's getting ready to release two new electric
motorcycles
suitable for off-roading. With its plans, the company falls in step with other bike manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson which have developed their own electric bike offerings recently.

Can-Am Is releasing two new electric bikes for off-roading

To be honest, we don't know a whole lot yet about these upcoming bikes. Per
Electrek
, Can-Am has only said at this point that "riders can expect these new state-of-the-art electric Can-Am motorcycles to be perfect for everyday commuting and, to stay true to the track & trail heritage of the brand, recreational on and off-road riding.
In a brief YouTube video, the company has released some teaser images of the bikes, and from those, Electrek deduces that they're somewhat similar to the EVs produced by Zero Motorcycles.
Electrek also makes note of the Can-Am bikes' single-sided rear swingarm setup, large tablet-sized display, and single-seater saddle.
Of course, none of the images of the bikes in the video are up-close and detailed, so viewers are left to attempt to fill in some gaps for themselves. But that just adds to the intrigue, we guess--or so Can-Am hopes.

What is Can-Am?

Can-Am is a powersports company that is part of a larger entity known as Bombardier Recreational Products, which was founded all the way back in 1942. Can-Am itself was founded in 1973.
Family Powersports
explains that in the beginning, Can-Am was focused solely on the production of motocross dirtbikes but as business boomed its offerings expanded and evolved.
On the heels of their success in the motocross arena, for example, Can-Am began producing other sorts of vehicles, such as ATVs and a three-wheel vehicle known as the Spyder.
While their initial ATVs only allowed for one passenger, later models such as Commander™ allowed for side-by-side passengers.
Can-Am's business has now grown to such an extent that its vehicles are found throughout the world, from North America to Europe and Asia. The upcoming EV motorcycles will be the company's first offering of an electric two-wheeled vehicle, although its parent company had previously introduced an electric version of the three-wheeled Spyder.

Here's what we know about Can-Am's bike release plans

Unfortunately for anyone eager to get their hands on one of these bikes, you aren't going to be able to do so anytime soon. While Can-Am has dropped the video presenting the bikes to the company's fans, it's a video that's much more of a teaser than an actual introduction.
In fact, it sounds like the bikes aren't expected on the market until around the middle of 2024. It's hard to imagine holding off on snagging one until the next presidential election, but it looks like that's what we'll have to do.
