Nissan is so stranger to the
electric vehicle
game. The Leaf hatchback has been a mainstay as an entry-level, affordable EV for over a decade now, but Nissan had yet to introduce a larger, more upscale model until it was announced the Nissan Ariya crossover SUV.
The 2022 Nissan Ariya has a starting MSRP of $47,125 and an impressive battery range of 300 miles. At that price point, it’s almost $12,000 cheaper than Telsa’s cheapest SUV, the Long Range Model Y.
According to
tomsguide.com
, the concept car was first introduced at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2019, and deliveries of the much-anticipated EV have already started in Japan.
If you’re trying to make a reservation stateside, slots to get a 2022 model—which are scheduled to be delivered by the fall—have already closed. Have no fear, however, because it is around that same time that the 2023 Ariya SUV will also go on sale.

The 2022 Nissan Ariya vs 2023 Nissan Ariya: size, appearance, and style

The finalized version of the Ariya isn’t too different from the sleek, futuristic prototype that was first launched in 2019. Both the 2022 Nissan Ariya and 2023 Nissan Ariya measure 183 inches in length, and sport slim LED lights, a large grille, a sloping roofline, and single horizontal brake light.
The modern interior sports a large 12-inch infotainment display and digital gauge cluster. Unlike many new cars, Nissan has chosen to keep some touch-sensitive controls on the dashboard, allowing drivers a more intuitive user experience without having to take their eyes off the road.
The steering wheel itself also has an array of built-in key controls.

Powertrain and range

There are five versions of the Nissan Ariya available, and performance depends on which one you choose. The entry-level two-wheel-drive configuration has a 63-kWh motor that produces 215 bhp and can go from zero to 60 mph in just 7.5 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive version packs an 87-kWh battery producing 239 bhp, but the heavier battery pack slows down the zero to 60 mph time to 7.6 seconds.
Boost either of these models with Nissan’s proprietary e-4orce four-wheel-drive system, which is good for 278 hp and 306 hp respectively. It will also speed up acceleration time to 5.9 or 5.7 seconds.
At the premium tier is the Ariya e-4orce 87kWh Performance model, which produces up to 389 bhp and can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.
The range will also depend on what trim and powertrain you choose, starting with the front-wheel-drive Ariya Venture Plus which is good for 300 miles of range.
Both the Ariya Evolve Plus FWS and the Premiere FWD offer 285 miles of range and start at $54,625. The most expensive tier starts at $60,125 and offers 265 miles of range.
Both the 2022 Nissan Ariya and 2023 Nissan Ariya come with an 87-kWh battery, 22kW AC fast charging, and up to 130kW DC rapid charging.
