Apple is known for a lot of things. Macbooks, iPhones, iPads, and their shiny minimalist style stores where you can go to look at all their new fancy gadgets and hear about their upcoming projects. Except for maybe one, the rumored Project Titan, Apple’s bumpy autonomous electric vehicle program.
If you haven’t been following all the rumors,
Jerry
is here with new project information and a breakdown of what we know.

From Lamborghini to Project Titan

The newest news from Project Titan is Luigi Taraborrelli. He’s an exec from Lamborghini with 21 years of experience at the company who recently left and is now at Apple
So if you’re a fan of Lamborghini’s, you can thank him for some chassis and vehicle dynamics he worked on over the years or cars like the Aventador Coupé, Huracán Coupé, Sterrato, and Urus SUV, to just name a few.
Pulling a name like this can’t come cheap. This shows that Apple is still serious about getting long-await EV to market. But the project has faced nothing but delays since its inception.

Project Titan, a work in progress since 2014

If you haven’t been keeping up with the Apple Car news, don’t worry, it’s been a long journey. And news like a well-known car company’s exec hired by Apple has been common since 2014 when they hired staff from Mercedes Benz.
People in the project come and go, and roadblocks seem fairly common. The most common news on the project is employee poaching either on Apple's end or on other companies' ends.
The project has changed a bit, or at least it has, according to rumors, which can start to read like coverage for a local cryptid like the Mothman. Things like “secret automotive facility” or translated international coverage of their supply chains, leaked schematics, and possibly dreams like being able to summon the car via your iPhone.
We know that California let Apple run some tests with their cars, or more accurately, test their self-driving tech integrated into other cars like Lexus’s in 2017 and 2018. But unfortunately, the title “Project Titan” seems to be a catch-all for their experiments in cars and car technology without many official press releases on the subject.
