The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 starts at $38,790, but it could be closer to an even 30k when you factor in potential federal tax credits.
The all-new ID.4 is now more affordable than ever to buyers on a budget, thanks to its base model’s less powerful battery. Despite its smaller battery, the standard trim enjoys many of the same solid upgrades as the higher trims—like a sleeker design, aluminum-alloy wheels, and a more technologically-advanced center console.

2023 ID.4 pricing information

Pricing for the 2023 ID.4 starts at $38,790, which is a few thousand dollars less than the 2022 base model. While you do score some serious savings with the 2023 base model compared to last year, you lose some significant range when you’re out on the road. The 2023 ID.4 lasts only about 200 miles, down about 40 miles from the 2022 base model.
There are four trim levels for the 2023 model, with options to add AWD on the two higher-tier trims
Here’s how much each trim will set you back :
  • Volkswagen ID.4 Standard: estimated starting MSRP of $38,790
  • Volkswagen ID.4 Pro: estimated starting MSRP of $43,790
  • Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S: estimated starting MSRP of $47,495
  • Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S Plus: estimated starting MSRP of $51,490

What is the cheapest ID.4?

The most affordable 2023 ID.4 is the standard model. Not only is it under 40 grand, but it’s also nearly four thousand dollars cheaper than the 2022 model. Plus, buyers who qualify for the $7500 federal tax credit could see the price tag dip below $30,000.
Sure, the standard model won’t have all the bells and whistles of the higher trims, but it still comes packed with notable features like standard driver-assistance tech, including a helpful park assist feature and cyclist and pedestrian detection.
Other standard features include:
  • LED lights all-around
  • Rearview camera
  • Heated side mirror
  • Advanced keyless entry

Is an ID.4 worth it?

Compared to other current and upcoming electric crossover SUVs, the 2023 ID.4 offers an affordable entry point for drivers looking to make the EV switch.
But again, you’ll sacrifice quite a bit of range to get that lower price tag. That may make some of its competitors, like the Hyundai Kona Electric, a better buy. Not only does the Kona Electric have a superior range to the standard ID.4 model, but it’s also more affordable.
So, is the ID.4 worth it if there are cheaper, longer-range competitors out there? Well, it all depends on what you’re looking for. If you upgrade even just one trim level to the ID.4 Pro, you’ll see a significant boost in range (50 miles worth) that beats many in its class.
But to help you make the best decision, let’s take a closer look at a few of the most important features of this handsome crossover EV.

What is the horsepower of an ID.4?

There’s a misconception that electric cars lack the power of their gas-guzzling counterparts. But the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 still boasts up to 295 horsepower, which is higher than many vehicles in its class. The standard trim, on the other hand, barely hits 200 horsepower—but just think of the savings!

What is the range of the ID.4?

The top range estimated by the EPA for the 2023 ID.4 is a respectable 275 miles in the Pro S Plus. With the budget-minded base trim, the driving range drops to just 208 miles.

Is the ID.4 reliable?

The Volkswagen brand has a solid reputation when it comes to reliability. But the ID.4—at least the 2022 model—fell short of getting a recommendation from Consumer Reports. This was mainly due to its complicated infotainment and control systems that led to drivers taking their eyes off the road to make burdensome adjustments.
The 2023 ID.4 model did see some changes to its interior technology that hopefully will help its reliability scores to improve.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
