The 2023 Fisker Ocean Is an SUV Not to Be Slept On

The 2023 Fisker Ocean has many green elements to it, however, because it’s new no one can really say how reliable it is.

While the early 2020s have mostly been dominated by gloomy headlines, there is one very bright silver lining: the emergence of SUV
electric vehicles
There's no question that the Tesla Model Y and Model X have dominated the SUV EV space, but many other companies will also have green SUVs soon.
One such case is the 2023 Fisker Ocean. While Fisker is best known for helping the Vatican go electric, the company's soon-to-be-released electric SUV is starting to turn some heads.

Meet Fisker automotive

If you've never heard of Fisker, you're not alone. The company is fairly young, being founded in 2007. The Anaheim-based company has always put design first and worked on several premium cars such as the Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8.
In addition to aesthetics, the company is a pioneer in developing clean vehicles. They made one of the first-ever plug-in hybrid cars in the Fisker Karma which debuted in the US in 2011. While the Karma was a fun and sporty hybrid, Fisker wanted to get into the SUV space.
They have been working on the SUV Ocean since 2019, and it just recently became available for preorder.

Staying true to its design roots, the 2023 Fisker Ocean is a piece of art. It looks like a mix of a Range Rover Evoque and a Porsche Macan. The Ocean got its name from the fact that a lot of the interior fabrics are made from recycled plastics. The idea is that by driving an Ocean, you're helping protect the ocean.
The 2023 Fisker Ocean comes in four different trims, all with wildly different specifications. The base model is the Ocean Sport, which starts at $39,000. The Sport comes with a single motor and only has front-wheel drive. It can produce a modest 275 hp and gallop from 0-60 in just under 7 seconds. It has a towing capacity of 2,040 pounds, per
Car and Driver
The higher-end Ultra and Extreme trims offer better performance at a higher price ($51,500 and $70,500 respectively). Both have a dual motor set up and offer all-wheel drive. They produce an impressive 540 hp and have better acceleration, going from 0-60 in just under 4 seconds.
The big difference between the high-end trims is that the Extreme comes with a solar panel roof for remote charging. It is estimated that the solar roof can provide 2000 free miles per year in ideal conditions.

Should you buy a 2023 Fisker Ocean?

The biggest allure to the 2023 Fisker Ocean is also its biggest risk: it’s new.
Sure, the solar panel roof and recycled plastic materials are fantastic. But with any new car model comes the issue of reliability. The Fisker Ocean may be a perfectly reliable vehicle, but without an established track record, it makes it hard to know for certain.
