2022 Tesla Model Y EV Price

Maybe the godfather of all-electric SUVs, the 2022 Tesla Model Y starts around $67,000.

A lot comes to mind when you hear the word “Tesla,” but if you’re an SUV fan, the futuristic Model Y should be the first thing you think of. They’re not cheap, starting around $67,000 for the Long Range trim, but you’re unlikely to find a better combination of high-tech performance, impressive driving range, and undeniable cool factor anywhere else.
We wouldn’t be quite so bold as to suggest that the hybrid/EV vehicle craze all started with Tesla (that accolade should probably go to the venerable Toyota Prius), but we can say that they’ve brought a lot of attention to this segment of the auto market over the last few years.
If you’ve had your eye on a Model Y for some time now, we’ve got you covered.

2022 Tesla Model Y pricing information

The 2022 Tesla Model Y is available in two trim levels—the Long Range at $67,000 and the Performance at $72,000.
Keep in mind, too, that the $7,500 tax credit for Teslas has officially run out, so you won’t be able to chisel down any of the MSRP, unfortunately.
The price range might firmly land the Model Y in the luxury SUV category, but think of all the money you’ll save and the joy you’ll experience every time you drive past a long line at the gas pump.

What is the cheapest Tesla EV?

If you don’t mind sacrificing the storage space and optional third row of the Model Y, you could get yourself a Model 3 all-electric sedan for around $48,000. That’s almost $20k cheaper than the Model Y!
The 2022 Model 3 (Long Range) is an all-wheel drive and has an amazing 358 mile range, which is made possible by dual electric motors that can go from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Other features include:
  • 7.6-kW onboard charger
  • Keyless entry and ignition
  • Panoramic glass sunroof
  • 15-inch touchscreen
  • Wireless phone charging
  • 18-inch wheels
  • 13 speaker premium sound system

Is a Tesla EV worth it?

When you look at other all-electric EVs, the Model Y certainly stands out as being one of the more expensive options. By comparison, the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Kia EV6 both start at around $42,000, a whopping $25k less than the Model Y! Plus, both of these vehicles are still eligible for the $7,500 tax credit.
All of this begs the question—is the 2022 Model Y really worth it?
Well, it depends on what you want out of your vehicle. If you’re dead-set on a cutting-edge, near-futuristic EV and you don’t mind paying extra to get one, then the Model Y should suit you just fine. It doesn’t hurt that it has the light, responsive handling of a sedan and can still shoot from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds despite all that extra weight.
At the end of the day, though, whether or not the Model Y is worth the price is completely up to you. We’ll tell you a bit more about it, though, to help you make your decision.

What is the horsepower of a Model Y EV?

The power of the Model Y’s electric engine might surprise you, because it can generate a very impressive 450-hp at 471 lb-ft of torque. Put a tow hitch on it and the Y is even capable of pulling up to 3,500 pounds! Pretty impressive for an electric SUV, huh?

What is the range of the Solterra EV?

Per the EPA, the maximum range for a 2022 Model Y is about 330 miles. This is specifically for the Long Range trim, though, because the Performance model is only capable of going 303 miles before needing a recharge.

Is the Model Y EV reliable?

This is where things might get a little dicey, because the reliability of the Model Y has been called “much worse than average” by
Consumer Reports
. Among 26 ranked car brands, Tesla currently sits at a less-than-prestigious second to last, but many of the complaints seem to be more cosmetic in nature.
When it comes to mechanical performance, electric vehicles are typically more reliable than traditional gas vehicles. This is due to the fact that there are fewer parts that can wear out and need replacement in EVs, but any savings are offset by the fact that electric vehicles are usually much more expensive to fix when something breaks. Just make sure to do some research and figure out if you can handle the upkeep of a Model Y.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
