The first Rivian R1S debuted in 2021, with an MSRP of $72,500. The SUV has a price that’s comparable to other luxury SUVs on the market, and will be offered in two layouts: a five passenger two row, and a seven passenger three row.
The 2021 Rivian R1S has three battery pack options: 105 kWh, 135 kWh, and 180 kWh, with the largest battery pack only being offered in the five passenger SUV, and four electric motors—one behind each wheel. The R1S has a range up to 400 miles, a combined horsepower of 750, and 829 lb-ft of torque combined. And, it can tow up to 7,700 pounds.
The 2021 Rivian R1S is just over 200 inches in length, with 14.3 inches of ground clearance at the highest setting, which makes it ideal for those seeking some time off road.
This year’s model of the Rivian R1S starts at an MSRP of just under $85,000. Like the model year before, the 2022 R1S will have the same three battery pack options, along with an electric motor behind each wheel. Plus, estimated horsepower, torque, range, and towing capacity are all the same from last year, too.
For the 2022 model of the Rivian R1S, there’s an off-road upgrade that adds a reinforced underbody shield, dual front tow hooks, and an air compressor, all to upgrade your adventuring even more.
Don’t forget car insurance
Both the 2021 and 2022 models of the Rivian R1S are a bit of a splurge, with MSRPs of $72,500 and $84,500, respectively. While you might have to spend a little extra to get the vehicle, what you don’t need to spend extra on is car insurance after your purchase.
