How fast is the Volkswagen Golf R 0 to 60?

Manual transmission: 6.3 seconds
Automatic transmission: 4.2 seconds
MotorTrend clocked these times in road tests for both transmission options on the redesigned eighth-generation Golf R MkVIII for 2022.
The six-speed manual Golf R was tested against the
Volkswagen GTI
and fell short by about 0.2 seconds, much to the auto enthusiasts’ surprise. However, the Golf R fitted with seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission beat Volkswagen’s sprint promise by 0.5 seconds in MotorTrend’s Performance Vehicle of the Year event.

What makes the Golf R so fast?

The outgoing Golf R’s EA888 2.0L turbo-four engine gets an upgrade for 2022 including 315 horsepower and 310 ft-lb torque (compared to the outgoing model’s 288 horsepower and 280 lb-ft torque). The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission boasts gear changes in mere hundredths of a second, which could account for this option’s two-second lead on acceleration.
In addition to upgrades on the current engine, the 2022 Golf R also features performance upgrades to Volkswagen’s MQB platform, like a new system for all-wheel drive. In the 2022 model, a rear-wheel-drive unit equipped with two clutches can send all available torque to the outside wheel in a turn, keeping the Golf R steady without sacrificing speed

Volkswagen Golf R 0 to 60 vs. competitors

A manual Volkswagen Golf R can only get you so far—quite literally—compared to its competitors, but upgrading to the automatic transmission puts this sporty sedan in the top place for a speed test. Considering the automatic option only costs about $800 extra, this is a worthwhile upgrade for your consideration.
The Golf R’s competitors use a mix of transmission options as well, but at their best, they still can’t beat Volkswagen’s speed test.
Subaru’s 2021 WRX STI
puts up the most valiant competition, with even better expected for 2022.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
