Toyota Camry’s ground clearances have fluctuated since its introduction in 1983. Here’s what you can expect from Camrys throughout the years:
- 1st generation (1983-1986): 6.3–6.7 inches
- 2nd generation (1987-1991): 6.3–6.7 inches
- 3rd generation (1992-1996): 5.1–6.3 inches
- 4th generation (1997-2001): 4.0–5.7 inches
- 5th generation (2002-2006): 5.4–5.5 inches
- 6th generation (2007-2011): 5.5 inches
- 7th generation (2012-2017): 6.1 inches
In earlier generations, the Camry’s ground clearance will often come down to model year within that generation. For example, a 2000 Toyota Camry’s ground clearance will always be 5.2 inches, but a 1998 Camry could have anywhere from 4.9 to 5.2 inches depending on trim.
In newer generations, ground clearance does not vary by year or time, which means a 2007 Toyota Camry’s ground clearance will always be 5.5 inches, while a 2018 or 2021 Toyota’s ground clearance will be the same as 2022 at 5.7 inches.
