If you find yourself with a dead Nissan Sentra key fob battery, don’t worry! You can still get inside your car with the secret key hidden inside. We know that sounds like a complicated clue out of a mystery novel, but it’s actually a piece of cake.
To access your secret hidden key, simply press the release latch on the back of your key fob. Slide the latch up and you’ll see the emergency hidden key. Take the key out, insert it into the keyhole on the driver’s side door of your Sentra, and voila! You’re in.
How to start a Nissan Sentra when your key fob battery is dead
But once you’re inside, how do you start the car with a dead key fob? If you try to press the push-button start like normal, you’ll get a message that says, “No key detected.”
At this point, you may be tempted to give up and call AAA, but not so fast! You can start your 2019 Nissan Sentra with the dead fob by pressing the key fob against the push-button start. Make sure you’re pressing your foot down on the brake while doing so.
And there you have it! Make sure to pick up a replacement battery for your fob on the way home.

While seated in the driver’s seat, close and lock all doors.
Insert the key into the ignition six times. The vehicle’s hazard lights will flash twice to indicate entering Programming Mode.
Put the key into the ignition and turn it to engage the electrics, but do not turn the car on.
Then immediately press any key on the key fob (if this step is not done quickly enough, the key fob will not be programmed).
You can test that your car has been successfully programmed by stepping away from the vehicle and pressing a button on the key fob. If the vehicle responds, congratulations, you’ve successfully programmed your key fob!

First, make sure your Sentra has automatic window icons on both front window buttons. If it doesn’t, you won’t be able to do this key fob trick. If it does, then just hold the unlock button on your key fob button. This will roll your driver’s side window down.
Just be aware that you can’t roll up the windows remotely—you’ll have to get in the car to do that.
