Do you need a license to operate a motorcycle in Nebraska?

Yes—if you want to operate a motorcycle or a three-wheeled motor vehicle in Nebraska you’ll need a Class M License
In order to get a Class M License in Nebraska, you have to be at least 17 years old. You can get a Class M License in one of two ways:
  • Pass a written exam and driving test at your local Nebraska DMV
  • Complete a motorcycle safety course
Nebraska uses the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic Rider Course (MSF BRC) to train prospective motorcycle drivers in important safety strategies and crash-avoidance techniques. This course requires applicants to complete a minimum of 14 hours of motorcycle instruction, including four hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of actual range time. Completing the MSF BRC will allow drivers to bypass the written and driving tests at the DMV—you can check out the BRC handbook
here
If you choose not to complete the BRC, you’ll have to book an appointment to take the Rider Skills Test (RST). For a full list of locations where you can take this test, click

Once you’ve completed the BRC or RST, you’re ready to get your Class M License!
