The Lincoln Navigator’s third-row seating is one of the best in its class—and its luxurious interior doesn’t hurt, either.

The
2022 Lincoln Navigator
boasts 36.1 inches of leg room in the third row, making it one of the most spacious full-size SUVs on the market.
If you appreciate the finer things in life and need to tote around more than five people on a regular basis, it can be hard to find the perfect vehicle. Three-row SUVs may have the right number of seats, but they don’t all have adequate space. Lucky for you,

Wondering about the third row of the Lincoln Navigator? Wonder no more. We’ll go over the interior dimensions, legroom, and how it compares to other three-row SUVs.

What is the Lincoln Navigator’s 3rd row like?

The recent Lincoln Navigator models can seat either seven or eight passengers, depending on which configuration you choose. In fact, US News named the Navigator the best eight-passenger SUV on the market in 2021.
The Lincoln Navigator is a luxury full-size SUV, so three rows are standard on all models and trim levels. Whether you have seven or eight seats, however, depends on whether you opt for the standard captain’s chairs for the second row or upgrade to the three-seat bench.

Space and comfort

Just because a car has a third row doesn’t automatically make it comfortable—and no one wants to be a contortionist just to ride in the back seat.
While you can’t measure a variable like comfort in precise numbers, you can measure legroom, headroom, and passenger volume. Here’s what they look like on the base 2022 Navigator:
  • Third row: 36.1 inches of legroom, 37.3 inches of headroom
  • Second row: 41.1 inches of legroom, 40 inches of headroom
  • Front row: 43.9 inches of legroom, 41.8 inches of headroom
  • Total passenger volume: 172 cubic feet

This is a decent amount of legroom for the third row, though it’s five whole inches smaller than the second row. While the Navigator does offer an extended L body style, it doesn’t add any space to either row’s legroom. That’s OK though—the Navigator’s third-row legroom can accommodate most adults just fine
Of course, third row space isn’t everything and some competitors may have similar measurements with other features. That being said, the 2022 Navigator offers the best third-row space-to-price ratio. Here’s a look at the interior measurements for the Navigator’s biggest competition.

Is the Lincoln Navigator good for big families and long trips?

With one of the most spacious third rows in the full-size SUV segment, the Lincoln Navigator can comfortably fit most passengers in the back two rows. From small kids to average-sized adults, the Navigator can accommodate almost anyone.
A spacious interior isn’t all the Navigator’s got going on. Here are a few other areas where the Navigator excels:
  • Sturdy and powerful powertrain: The 2022 Navigator is built with a 440-hp twin-turbocharged V-6, enabling it to tow up to 8,700 pounds.
  • Lavish interior: The Navigator is full of luxurious touches, from leather upholstery and wood trim to metal knobs and optional massaging front seats.
  • Stacked infotainment suite: A 13.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot are standard on the 2022 Navigator.
The Navigator’s opulence and enormity aren’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a cushy people-hauler with beauty and brawn, it’s a top choice in its class.
