How to replace a lost driver’s license in Iowa

There’s no need to panic if you lose your Iowa driver’s license—getting a replacement is usually a very easy process. And it's best to get a replacement as soon as possible, as you can find yourself in serious legal trouble if you’re caught

. But before doing so, you’ll need to meet the following requirements before applying for a replacement online:

Be at least 21 years of age

Be an Iowa resident and a U.S. citizen

Your license must be valid

Have no changes to your name, date of birth, sex, endorsements, class type, or restrictions

Do not have any of the following restrictions on your license: E, J, G, Q, R, or T

You do not have any pending re-examinations scheduled

Your current license is not marked “Valid Without Photo”

Your replacement will be mailed to you within 21 days.
