How many seats does the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe have?

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe comes standard with seating for five. The good news is, that the Hyundai crossover has a very roomy cabin, and the second row of seats can easily accommodate three full-size grown-ups.

Do all Santa Fes have two rows of seats?

The Santa Fe is available in six trim levels and two powertrains, but no matter which of the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe configurations you go with, the model has only two rows of seats.
With 41.7 inches of legroom in the second row, the Santa Fe has one of the roomiest second rows of seats in its class, making it a great choice for small families.
Of course, there’s more to an SUV than just the number of seats. Let’s take a closer look at the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe’s interior specs to see if this crossover is right for your family.

2022 Hyundai Santa Fe interior

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe’s roomy interior is only one of the many affectations that make this midsize SUV classier than its $28,495 starting price would suggest. Flush with standard driver-assist tech, the Santa Fe has earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safty Pick+ from the IIHS, making it one of the safest Utes on the road.
The Santa Fe’s interior is eye-catching with premium-looking trim, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and optional wireless charging capabilities. On the outside, the Santa Fe offers an 8.2-inch ground clearance—which, when paired with the 260-horsepower optional hybrid powertrain, makes it a great off-road companion.
When equipped with the optional hybrid powertrain, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is capable of achieving a 32 combined city/highway mpg fuel efficiency rating. So you’ll not only save the environment, but you’ll also save a little cash, too.
And Hyundai offers a very strong warranty on their work with complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, and powertrain coverage for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.
This long list of strengths has earned the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe an 8.5/10 rating from Car and Driver and a 7.7/10 rating from Edmunds.

Cargo space

The Santa Fe’s cargo capacity is top-notch with 36.4 cubic feet of storage behind the second row of seats, and 72.1 cubic feet of storage behind the first row. Those numbers put the Santa Fe near the top of its class when compared with its top competitors.
The highly regarded
Mazda CX-5
has just 29.1 cubic feet of storage behind the second row and only 59.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the front row of seats. The
Nissan Rogue
has similar numbers to the Santa Fe with 36.8 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 72 cubic feet behind the front row.

Which other Hyundai vehicles can seat eight people?

While the Hyundai Santa Fe is a great vehicle, seating capacity can be a deal-breaker for some families. If you’re looking for something that can accommodate a family band, the
Hyundai Palisade
has available seating for eight people.
The Palisade has three rows of seating and spots for seven or eight occupants depending on the trim. The higher-end
Limited
and Calligraphy trims come furnished with second-row captain’s chairs, while the more economical SE and
SEL
trims come equipped with a second-row bench and seating for eight.
But the Palisade offers only 18 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats, so hopefully, no one in your family band plays the drums. The total cargo capacity behind the front row of the 2022 Hyundai Palisade is 86.4 cubic feet—enough to keep it competitive with the likes of the
Ford Explorer
and the
Kia Telluride
, but still lightyears behind the
Chevrolet Traverse
's 98.2 cubic feet of cargo room.
And with a fuel economy rating of just 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, the Palisade might not be the best choice for taking your family band on tour. Unlike the Santa Fe, the Hyundai Palisade is not available with a hybrid powertrain, and so it cannot compete with the fuel efficiency of hybrid classmates like the
Toyota Highlander
, which achieves a fantastic 35 combined city/highway rating.
If you need to seat more than five occupants, the Palisade is your only Hyundai option. If, on the other hand, you only need to seat five, and you don’t care about cargo capacity, you might want to consider a sedan like the
Hyundai Sonata
or the
Hyundai Elantra
, both of which are notable for their spacious cabins and roomy back-seats.
Likewise, the
Hyundai Tucson
is a small but capable crossover with seating for five. In a Tucson vs. Santa Fe showdown, we prefer the Tucson for its equally roomy interior, which offers the same roomy cabin and a plethora of standard safety features for $2K less than the Santa Fe.

How to save on Hyundai Santa Fe insurance costs

While the Santa Fe is a spacious, splashy, and versatile SUV, it’s also pretty expensive to insure. The
Hyundai Santa Fe SE insurance cost
is $2,330 a year—well above the national average of $1,202. A big part of the reason is that a lot of drivers don’t shop around for the best available insurance rate when it’s time to renew their policy.
