Can you remove the second row seats from a 2012 Nissan Rogue?

You sure can! But there are a few guidelines you should follow to keep all of your car components damage and dirt free!
Here are a few safety tips you should keep in mind before, during, and after the backseat removal process:
  • Handle the seat trim carefully to keep dirt out and avoid damage
  • Have an assistant
  • Don’t accidentally bump the airbag modules. Doing so could cause the airbags to deploy and you will need to replace them.
  • When removing the seats, wrap them in shop cloths so the components aren’t damaged.
You may just need a little extra space, in which case you can simply fold down your rear seats. We’ll go over this in a later section; otherwise, keep reading to learn about the back seat removal process.

How to remove the second row seats from a 2012 Nissan Rogue

To get rid of those pesky back row seats hogging all the space, just follow these steps:
  1. Remove the front left and right bolt covers. Use a tool to release the 8 pawls.
  2. Remove the seat front bolts. Look for two.
  3. Slide the seat forward. Move it up as far as it will go
  4. Remove back-row seat bolt covers. You will need to release the 8 pawls using a tool.
  5. Remove the three (3) rear seat bolts.
  6. Fold the seat back to a flat position
  7. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Have an assistant help you lift and pull out the seats from the vehicle.
Ta-da! Congrats on your newfound space! Now your Rogue is ready to take on more, whether it’s camping, hauling groceries, or having a dedicated space for the family pet. If you ever decide to reinstall the seats, just follow the directions in reverse. For more information on seat removal, consult the

How do you put the back seats down in a 2012 Nissan Rogue?

As promised, we’re also breaking down how to put down the back seats in your 2012 Nissan Rogue. Fortunately, if you only need a little extra space, folding down the rear seats is a piece of cake. Here’s what you should do:
  • Lower the headrests. For even more space, you can remove the headrests by pushing down and holding the lock knob while pulling the headrest in an upward direction, then store them where they will not be loose in the vehicle.
  • Stow away the second row seat belt hooks, which you will find on the sides of the vehicle.
  • Pull up on the recline lever on top of the outboard seats while moving the seat backs forward to fold them down.
