With four distinct trim levels and even more optional packages, buyers of the Cadillac SRX could customize their car how they liked. Now that the car has been discontinued, finding the right one is a little more challenging.
Modern cars are not all-inclusive, with many of the most attractive features being tied to trim levels and equipment packages. The Cadillac SRX, which was discontinued after 2016, fits this mold, and buyers on the used market should keep an eye out for one with all the features they need.

If you’re looking for a luxury crossover SUV that gives you some bang for your buck, the Cadillac SRX might be the right choice for you. Although 2016 was the last year that the car was produced, its ample features and quality performance make it more than capable even today.
The 2016 Cadillac SRX was sold in four trim levels
: Base, Luxury Collection
, Performance Collection
, and Premium Collection
. Although the Base version of the car was the cheapest of the four with a starting price of $38,600, it was by no means lacking in features. The Cadillac SRX is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine and comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. It also comes equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless start, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Notably, the base level trim is the only one without the option of all-wheel drive.
If you’re willing to spend some extra money, the Cadillac SRX Luxury Collection
is exactly what the name implies. With a sunroof, wooden trim, and leather seating, the driver and passengers alike can enjoy an upscale experience. The luxury trim also adds a significant number of driver-assist features to the car. Adding on to those luxury features, the Cadillac SRX Performance Collection
is all about the drive. This trim adds 20-inch wheels and variable steering to the car along with a 10-speaker sound system as a fun added bonus. The Cadillac SRX Premium Collection
, the most expensive of the bunch, comes standard with everything mentioned on the previous trims. In addition, the Premium offers even more in the way of drive-assist features, has heated rear seats, and comes with tri-zone climate control. MORE: Is there a self-driving Cadillac?
Cadillac SRX optional packages
The 2016 Cadillac SRX came with many optional packages to choose from. These packages, essentially a collection of similar equipment, allowed you to upgrade a lower trim level with something specific that you wanted.
The Driver Awareness Package adds a bunch of driver-assist and safety features including collision alert and lane departure warning. This package was optional for both the Luxury and Performance trims, although all of these features are standard on the Cadillac SRX Premium.
The Driver Assist Package, which comes equipped with adaptive cruise control as well as automatic collision preparation, was available on every trim level outside of the base version. The aforementioned Driver Awareness Package was a requirement if you wanted these features.
Some other optional features on the Cadillac SRX include a towing package which allows your SRX to haul up to 3,500 pounds. An alarm system to prevent car theft
was also available and likely worth investing in. By far the most notable additional feature offered for the 2016 Cadillac SRX was all-wheel drive, which could be had as long as you opted for the Luxury trim or above.

The base model of the Cadillac SRX had a starting price knocking at the door of $40,000, so it shouldn’t surprise you that one loaded with extra features will cost you. If you’re trying to decide which Cadillac SRX to buy, you’ll have to weigh your budget against the features you can’t live without.
The jump from the base SRX to the Luxury Collection trim added by far the most standard features, and also made most optional features available. If you’re looking for a used Cadillac, the Luxury Collection trim might give you the most options.
The best Cadillac SRX mods
There were a ton of customization options offered to people buying a brand new Cadillac SRX, but that’s not the case for those buying one used. If you have a used Cadillac SRX but want to increase your performance or customize its look, there are some aftermarket modifications you can make.
Car Wrap
Luxury SUVs
are usually sleek in style. If you prefer flashy, there is no better way to achieve it than a car wrap. Car wraps allow you to achieve unique looks at a moderate price and, if you end up getting bored of your car’s appearance, you can always take them off.Engine
The Cadillac SRX has a 3.6-liter V6 engine, so performance usually isn’t an issue. If you find yourself wanting more, there are a few changes you can make yourself, the most prominent being the addition of a cold air intake.
Tires
The Cadillac SRX isn’t designed to get dirty off the asphalt, but with a powerful engine and the option for all-wheel drive, the tires are the only thing stopping you. If you outfit your SRX with a great set of all-terrain tires, your Cadillac might surprise you on a trail.

RECOMMENDEDThis app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
