The 2022 midsize Toyota Venza hybrid SUV can seat five passengers, but unfortunately, third-row seating is not an option.
The 2022 Toyota Venza is a great choice for small families, with its fetching style, plentiful safety features, and decent practicality. But while it's great for hauling the kids to and fro, they won’t be able to have their friends tag along—third-row seating is not available on the Venza.
If you’re looking to stuff the spouse and kids (three maximum) into a Venza, be sure to get the low-down on its seating capacity and specifications before you head to the dealership.

How many seats does the 2022 Toyota Venza have?

Across every Venza trim—the LE, XLE, and the top-trim Limited—there are only five seats. That’s right, no captain’s chairs or bucket seats are available in this hybrid SUV. You and the kids will have to make do with the Venza’s rear bench seat.

2022 Toyota Venza interior

The Venza’s interior offers what you’d expect from a contemporary Toyota SUV—a stylish if unassuming cabin with lots of technology features and Toyota’s standard suite of driver-assist offerings
Another aspect of the interior you’ll notice is that it can feel tight. Even though the Venza is actually bigger than the Toyota RAV4, the Venza’s interior space is smaller. The Venza also offers less cargo space than the RAV4.

Dimensions

We’ll take a more granular look at the Venza’s interior by analyzing its dimensions. As you can see in the chart below, the Venza’s interior measurements are perfectly capable, but this isn’t the roomiest midsize SUV you’ll ever meet:
Seating dimensions
Total passenger volume
127.1 cubic feet
Front headroom
38.6 inches
Front leg room
40.9 inches
Front shoulder room
57.4 inches
Front hip room
54. inches
Second-row headroom
39.0 inches
Second-row legroom
37.8 inches
Second-row shoulder room
56.9  inches
Second-row hip room
45.2 inches

Cargo space

The Venza’s cargo space is fine for a midsize SUV, but it's nothing to get too excited about. With the rear bench seat folded down, the Venza boasts 55.1 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seat up, you’ll get 28.8 cubic feet of cargo space, which is decent.
By comparison, if you spend a few extra dollars (about $4,000) on the Toyota Highlander, you’ll get both a third row of seats and more total cargo space. In the Highlander, you get 84.3 cubic feet of cargo seats with all seats down, 48 cubic feet with just the third row down, and an admittedly small 16 cubic feet of cargo space with the third-row seats up. Something to consider, at least.

Which Toyota vehicles can seat eight people?

If you need more seating capacity than the Venza can offer, you’ve got options with Toyota.
The aforementioned Highlander is a three-row SUV with lots of safety features, tech options, and the choice of bench seats or captain’s chairs for the second row. The third row remains a bench seat, but it is tight—while the
Toyota Highlander’s seating capacity
can technically fit eight passengers, you’d be best to reserve the back row for small kids.
The
Toyota Sequoia seats seven to eight passengers
, with the upper trims getting two second-row captains chairs, thus reducing their capacity to seven passengers. In contrast to the Highlander, the Sequoia’s third row of seats is actually suitable for adult passengers!
The rugged
Toyota 4Runner’s seating capacity
also accommodates seven to eight passengers, though the third row is tight. This SUV is more geared towards off-roading, and the interior is suitably utilitarian, but the cabin is roomy, and it includes Toyota’s suite of driver-assist technology.
Finally, there’s the Toyota Sienna, the Japanese carmaker’s stylish minivan, which can also seat between seven and eight passengers. If you need max
seating capacity in your Sienna
, stick with the bench seat in the second row. If you can live with a seven-person capacity, you can switch out the bench seat for two captain’s chairs with slide-out ottomans!
