The 2022 GMC Acadia is a great three-row full-size crossover SUV for families thanks to its generous seating capacity and standard safety features. An easy-to-use infotainment system and versatile cabin also make the Acadia a best-seller in the full-size crossover class.
That being said, before you rush out to your dealership to get an Acadia of your own, you’ll want to take a look at just how many seats the model offers.

How many seats does the 2022 GMC Acadia have?

All GMC Acadia models come standard with six seats spread across three rows in a two-two-two configuration. That being said, all trim levels offer drivers a selectable second-row bench seat that increases the model’s seating capacity from six to seven

Do all Acadias have three rows of seats?

While you can decide whether you want six or seven seats in your Acadia, the SUV will always spread its seating across three rows.
Unfortunately, the model’s third row is a bit cramped compared to the first and second-row seating: with a mere 29.7 inches of legroom in the third row, the back-row seats will really only be comfortable for children or short trips for adult passengers.
Still not sure if the GMC Acadia is going to be a good fit for your family? Check out a more detailed breakdown of the model’s 2022 specs below.

2022 GMC Acadia interior

The inside of the 2022 GMC Acadia is well-equipped both in terms of creature comforts and technology features. That being said, the model’s interior could be bigger. For a full-size SUV, the first two rows are adequate for adult passengers, though the third row is where things really start to get cramped—so it might not be the best choice for large families or families with grown children.

Dimensions

Let’s take a closer look at the interior specs for the 2022 GMC Acadia. The model’s first two rows meet class standards, but the third row really drops off in terms of passenger volume.

Cargo space

Cargo space is another place where the GMC Acadia, while not abysmal, could use some improvement. With both rows of rear seats folded down, the Acadia offers drivers 79.0 cubic feet of cargo space, which should be plenty—but, it’s still less than comparable full-size crossover models.
If you need to use the second-row seats—increasing your passenger count to three to five—you should expect your cargo capacity to shrink to just 41.7 cubic feet with only the third row folded down. If you need to use both the second and third rows for passengers, the Acadia offers only a mere 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

Which other GMC vehicles can seat eight people?

If the seven seats in the GMC Acadia aren’t enough for you and your family, you might consider looking towards one of GMC’s eight-seater SUVs, of which there are only two—the
GMC Yukon
and
GMC Yukon XL
.
Both the Yukon and Yukon XL are full-size SUV models on offer from GMC that come standard with seven seats and offer the option to upgrade to eight total seats. When we look closer at the two models—particularly in terms of cargo capacity—it’s clear that they blow the GMC Acadia out of the water.
The 2022 GMC Yukon offers a maximum cargo capacity of 122.9 cubic feet, which lowers to 25.5 cubic feet when all three rows of seats are in use—that’s more than double the minimum cargo capacity of the Acadia. For real spaciousness, however, the 2022 Yukon XL is the way to go. Offering 144.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third row folded down, the Yukon XL boasts a minimum cargo capacity of 42.3 cubic feetthat’s more than three times the amount of space you’ll find in the Acadia.
