In addition to 33 cubes of space, the Maverick’s cargo bed has a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. Picture 40-odd bags of mulch, a couple of dirt bikes, or up to five full-size tires, and you’ll get an idea of what the Flexbed’s capable of. By comparison, the Hyundai Santa Cruz—Maverick’s biggest competitor—has a four-foot bed with just 27 cubic feet of cargo space.
And what about that “flex”? With the tailgate down, the Maverick can carry even more, thanks to eight bed tie-down points to help secure your cargo. This is helpful if you want to, say, store sheets of plywood flat in the truck bed. At the mid-grade XLT trim and above, this handy feature is upgraded to a power-locking liftgate.
