Station wagons are versatile, fun, and functional family cars. Ferraris are classy, sleek, sporty, and stylish. Put them together and it would be a match made in heaven.
Sadly, Ferrari no longer builds station wagons, though it did make them in the past. Drivers with the deepest of pockets could possibly pick one up today. Read on for the car insurance

Does Ferrari still make a station wagon?

No. Ferrari does not currently make a station wagon.
In the 1990s, the Sultan of Brunei commissioned Ferrari to build a station wagon, the 456 GT Venice. Ferrari sold six production models of the 456 GT Venice to the Sultan at a reported total cost of $1.5 million. A seventh test model is believed to have been sold to a British collector.
Ferrari stayed out of the station wagon game until 2017 when it unveiled the GTC4Lusso T. The GTC4Lusso T wasn’t quite as sharp as its sportscar cousins, but it did include many practical features, such as fold-down rear seats for additional cargo space. Ferrari discontinued the GTC4Lusso T in 2020.

What’s the difference between a station wagon and a hatchback?

Hatchbacks and station wagons look similar, and indeed they may include many similar features Here’s what makes a station wagon a station wagon
  • Sports a longer body than a hatchback or sedan
  • A liftgate provides access to extended cargo/passenger space
  • Usually features a D pillar
  • Maximizes cargo volume
Sedans are three-box vehicles. That means that they have separate compartments, or “boxes,” for their engines, cargo, and passengers. Hatchbacks and station wagons blend their cargo and passenger spaces together. Therefore, they are considered two-box vehicles
Station wagons tend to have boxy designs. They prioritize cargo space and functionality over style. Hatchbacks are sort of a compromise between station wagons and sedans. Like station wagons, their designs accommodate additional cargo room, but they also tend to be curvier and sleeker in shape.

The best Ferrari station wagons of all time

Ferrari GTC4Lusso T

Production years: 2017 to 2020
Price: $317,830 (2018, as-tested sticker price)
Cargo volume: Up to 28 cubic feet
Worst year: N/A
You will not find a better-looking station wagon than the GTC4Lusso T. The GTC4Lusso T has the sharp design Ferrari is known for, with an eye toward practicality not normally associated with the brand. The GTC4Lusso T has enough room for four passengers and their luggage—plus, its rear seats can also fold down for additional cargo space.
The GTC4Lusso T is no slouch under the hood either. “T” stands for the car’s 3.9-liter turbocharged 602-horsepower V8 engine. Ferrari claims the GTC4Lusso T can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 199 mph.

Ferrari 456 GT Venice

Production years: 1990s
Price: $1.5 million
Cargo volume: Unknown
Worst year: N/A
Little is known about the Ferrari 456 GT Venice. Modeled on the 456 GT coupe, Ferrari built the Venice as a custom station wagon for the Sultan of Brunei. The sultan reportedly bought six 456 GT Venices at a cost of $1.5 million each.
The Venice builds on the 456 GT base with a shooting brake design, with rear doors and roof extension for extra interior space. Its engine is a 5.5-liter, 436-horsepower V12 capable of cranking out 406 lb-ft of torque.
The six 456 GT Venices purchased by the Sultan of Brunei have been little seen over the past two decades, though they are believed to still be in his family’s collection. A seventh 456 GT Venice test model was reportedly sold to a British collector.
