What makes the Lamborghini Miura special?

The Miura P400 featured a 3.9-liter V12 engine with 345 hp. The V12 engine used in the P400 was unusual in that it was merged with the transmission and differential—a direct reflection of the Miura’s lack of space.
An extra 20 hp was added to the P400S, followed by a complete upgrade to the 1971 P400SV—the Miura P400SV was the last and most famous model that featured new cam timing4X3-barrel Weber carburetors, which boosted the car to 380 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

Speed
At the time, the Miura set a precedent for all Lamborghinis to come—it was the fastest car in production. The new 3.9-liter V12 engine was an absolute powerhouse for the Miura, allowing the P400 to reach 60 mph from a standstill in just 7.0 seconds and the P400S in just 6.7 seconds—maxing out at 171 mph.
Styling
With its groundbreaking design, the Miura repped unmistakable "eyelashes" that caught the attention of elite car enthusiasts. With just 275 P400s built, the success didn’t stop.
The Miura was further developed into the Miura S and then the Miura SV, with only 328 and 185 units produced, respectively. The SV featured wider mudguards and a revamped engine, with more horsepower and separate lubricating systems for the engine and gearbox.
The design of the Miura changed just as much as the performance. With a low-slung windshield that swooped back and trailed down to cover the ultra-powerful V12 under the hood, the car boasted wide hips and bulging air intakes that kept the brakes cool. The hood and rear engine cover were made from aluminum, and the Fiat 850 Spider-derived headlights gave the Miura its staple “eyelashes."
