2022 Ford F250 customization options

The Ford F250 is now branded under the Ford Super Duty and is packed with features to live up to the name. The truck is heavy-duty and versatile, which makes it a popular truck on many American driveways. It’s also loaded with technological features.
The 2022 F250 is available in six trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. The starting price ranges from $37,495 to $87,630.
Depending on the trim, the F250 is available in 6.75’ or 8’ boxes and three cab styles:
  • Regular cab: Two-door, three passengers
  • Super cab: Four-door (smaller rear doors), six passengers
  • Crew cab: Four-door (full-sized), six passengers
The F250 comes standard with a 6.2-liter V-8 gasoline engine (excluding the Limited trim), producing 385 hp and 430 pound-feet of torque. There are also more powerful engine options available—the 7.3-liter V-8 gasoline engine with 430 hp and 475 pound-feet, as well as the Power Stroke diesel 6.7-liter V-8 with 475 hp and 1050 pound-feet of torque
The 6.2-liter V-8 gasoline engine comes with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, whereas the other two engine options come with a 10-speed automatic transmission for a more engaging drive. Depending on the trim, you could also get the F250 in 4x2 or 4x4 drive.

There are also independent add-ons to further customize your F250 without having to purchase entire packages. This includes options like PowerScope telescopic trailer tow mirrors, platform running boards, premium leather-trimmed seats, and the B&O 10-speaker and subwoofer sound system.

How to customize your F250 to save money

With each add-on and package integrated into your custom F250, the overall cost of the car will increase. For example, if you opt for all the available packages and upgrades on an F250 Lariat, your final price would jump significantly from the base MSRP of $37,495 to $72,300—almost double the price.
Not only will you see a bigger price tag at the dealership, but you’ll also see a higher car insurance rate if your custom F250 is overloaded with upgrades.
On the other hand, a few custom options could actually save you money! Consider these options if you’re hoping to save money on your custom F250:
  • Trailer tow camera system with pro trailer backup assist: Not being able to see around your trailer increases the risk of collision or damage to your vehicle. Having the camera system in place helps prevent you from getting into accidents and saves potential repair costs.
  • Snowplow/camper package: This allows you to plow snow on your property with your customized F250. This will save you money every year from hiring a snow removal company to clear your driveway.

The best Ford F250 mods

While the list of trims, packages, and upgrades offered by Ford is extensive and alluring, it would be costly to add everything available. To customize your F250 without the high price tag, you can make your own third-party upgrades instead.

Tires

The base F250 comes with 17-inch argent-painted steel wheels, which can look underwhelming. You can upgrade the look and feel of your truck by simply getting bigger wheels! 20-inch wheels with 34-inch tires will give your F250 a classier look with better towing control. If you want a more aggressive look, you can get up to a 24-inch wheel.

Suspension

You’ll notice that trucks have their rear set higher to accommodate for sagging when you’re hauling large loads. However, if you don’t plan on hauling large loads often, you can get a leveling kit to bring the front back up.
However, if you plan to take your F250 off-terrain frequently, a lift kit mod is recommended to improve off-roading performance. It also gives you more height and clearance for larger wheels.

Hitch

The F250 hitch comes with a three-inch receiver and a half-inch reducer, which limits you to what hitches you can tow. You can upgrade your hitch to something with an adjustable height and interchangeable receivers.
