When you bought your car, did you read the user manual cover to cover? Neither did we—well, a little bit, just so we could help you unlock the full potential of your car’s key fob.
Did you know the remote start has a timeout function? Or that your fob can remember your seat settings? And that you can program an extra remote yourself?

How to unlock and lock the doors

By default, pushing the “Unlock” button on the key fob once will unlock the driver’s side door. It takes a second push within five seconds to unlock the remaining doors. When you’re ready to leave, press the “Lock” button once to secure the doors (and the trunk).

How to activate and deactivate the panic alarm

The red “Panic” button can quickly call attention to your car by flashing the turn signals, pulsing the horn, and illuminating the interior lights. One push is all it takes. Unless you deactivate it (either by pushing the “Panic” button a second time while you’re within 35 ft of the vehicle or driving the car to 15 mph), it’ll remain active for three minutes.

How to unlock the trunk

Pushing the “Trunk” button twice within five seconds will unlock the trunk of the Chrysler 300. Simple!

How to activate Remote Start

If you want to make use of this feature, you’ll need a Chrysler 300 equipped with remote start. On older models, it may only appear on the
Touring
,
S
, or
Limited
trims. No need to hunt for the user manual—if your car is remote start-capable, it’ll have a “Remote Start” button on the key fob.
Press the button twice within five seconds to turn on the engine. You now have 15 minutes to activate the ignition before the timeout function shuts off the engine. If you just can’t find your glasses or the kids are kicking up a fuss, you can activate remote start again, but it won’t work a third time: you’ll need to get into your car to start it before driving.
If you change your mind, pressing “Remote Start” a third time will turn the engine off

How to change Chrysler 300 key fob settings in UConnect

In this section, we’ll use the UConnect console to program the key fob in more detail. First, navigate to “Settings” (which might be hiding in “Apps”) and then choose the relevant category. Pressing the option you want will place a green checkmark next to it—that’s how you know your preferences will be saved when you press “X” to close the window.
Everything related to your key fob can be found in the “Lights” or “Doors & Locks” categories on the “Settings” page!

Lights: How to set your headlights to activate on unlock

“Headlight Illumination on Approach” controls whether or not your headlights activate when you press the “Unlock” button on the fob and for how long. Choose between 0 (disabled), 30, 60, or 90 seconds—very handy for finding where you parked in the dark!

Lights: How to set lights to flash on lock

“Flash Lights With Lock” needs to be set On if you want your 300 to flash its headlights when you press the “Lock” button on the fob. If not, set it to Off. If you can’t find it in the “Lights” category, check out “Doors & Locks.”

Doors & Locks: How to set the horn to sound on lock

If you’re the type of person who only remembers to lock their car after walking away, you might appreciate a friendly honk of confirmation. “Sound Horn with Lock” can be set to Off, with the first press or with the second press. Combine it with “Flash Lights With Lock” if you want to be certain you secured your

!

Doors & Locks: How to set the horn to sound on remote start

If the rumble of the Chrysler 300’s engine isn’t enough confirmation for you, you can set the horn to honk when you activate remote start. Go to “Sound Horn With Remote Start” and choose On or Off.

Doors & Locks: How to set what your fob unlock button does

If hitting the “Unlock” button twice to open your passenger doors bothers you, you can change it with “1st Press Of Key Fob Unlocks.” Change it from Driver Door to All Doors and everybody can get in with one press. If you have Passive Entry equipped and turned on (in the settings just below this one), touching any door on the car while the fob is nearby will unlock the whole thing.
“Personal Settings Linked To Key Fob” won’t appear unless your car has this special feature—if so, hooray! You can turn it On to enable an automatic recall of the position of the driver’s seat, exterior mirrors, and steering wheel from memory whenever the fob’s “Unlock” button is pressed.

How to program an extra Chrysler 300 key fob

The Chrysler 300 owner’s manual doesn’t tell you how to program an extra key fob—it just tells you to visit an authorized dealership. Instead, save your money by buying a cheap replacement fob online and programming it yourself! Unfortunately, this method can’t be used to program a Chrysler 300 key fob without the original
Here’s a step-by-step:
  • On the original key fob, press the “Lock” button five times, counting two seconds between each press.
  • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the RUN position without starting the engine. Wait for the chimes to stop.
  • Now, press the “Unlock” button for four to ten seconds. Keep it pressed while you push the “Panic” button for one second before releasing them both. After three seconds, you should hear a chime—that means you’ve entered programming mode. You now have 30 seconds to program your second key fob.
  • On the key fob you want to program, press the “Lock” and “Unlock” buttons simultaneously, then release. If all goes well, you’ll hear a chime. Congratulations! Turn off the car ignition and remove your key.
If the problem is that your Chrysler 300 key fob isn’t being detected, you might have a dead battery. Check out our article on

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
