The Chevrolet Trax LS is the entry-level trim for this subcompact SUV. Unfortunately,
Chevrolet
has never offered a V6 engine on the Trax LS or any other trim configuration, but the 2022 model year got an upgraded turbocharged 1.4-L four-cylinder engine with an increase in power from 138 to 155 horses.
The LS trim designation isn’t the only thing entry-level about the Trax. This
small Chevy SUV
is designed to deliver all the essential utility components in an affordable package—everything except a V6 engine offering, that is.
Considering the Trax’s size, it doesn’t exactly need a V6 engine, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find one in the same price range. But that doesn’t mean you can’t try! We’re here to get you started with a guide to some compact utes (like the Chevrolet Trax LS) that offer an amped-up V6 engine.

V6 engines are becoming incredibly sparse in compact and subcompact SUVs like the Chevrolet Trax LS—not to mention these are usually offered for upgraded trim levels. If you’re dead set on getting a V6, you’ll either need to look in a different segment or a different price range than you’d find for the Trax LS.
The
Jeep Cherokee
is one of the only entry-level, compact SUVs on the market that still offers a V6 engine, but it starts at about $18,000 more than a brand-new Trax LS. Alternatively, you could look for a V6 sedan like the 2022
Toyota Camry XLE
or
XSE
…which is only $10,000 more expensive. If you just want a more powerful engine—not necessarily a V6—look to the subcompact, comparably-priced
Mazda CX-30
with its 191-hp base four-cylinder or 227-hp turbocharged four-cylinder.
Lastly, if you’re simply looking for a Chevy with a V6, regardless of shape, size, or price, then turn your attention to the following offerings from 2023:
“I’m buying a new car, and all the insurance quotes I got previously were insane.

No. The Chevrolet Trax LS has never been offered with a V6 engine. The 2022 model came with a 155-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, but that has been swapped out with a 137-horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder engine for the 2024 redesign.
