We know, we know—electric cars don’t require gas, but if you’re looking for the Chevrolet that gets the best mileage, check out the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt. This is Chevy’s fully-electric offering and it gets a whopping 115 to 120 miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent (MPGe).

Of Chevy’s traditional lineup, the three models with the most efficient gas mileage are the

The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet cars

The new 2022 Chevy Spark is at the top of Chevy’s lineup for fuel efficiency. This subcompact hatchback boasts 29 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway for a combined 33 mpg. With a starting MSRP of $14,595, it’s an option that’s easy on your wallet.

)—all of them featuring the same 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. This solid engine makes 98 horsepower and 94 lb-ft of torque, which some drivers say is lackluster for a Chevy. You also have the option of a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission on every trim level.

Since it’s a subcompact, it’s not too surprising that the Spark is a bit small on passenger and cargo space. Reviewers also dislike the lack of standard features, which is one of the reasons Kelley Blue Book gave the Spark 3.5/5 and Consumer Reports ranked it #5 of 6 subcompact cars.

You might not want the Chevy Spark for your next road trip, but it’s a handy little car for quickly (and fuel-efficiently) getting around town.

If you’re worried the Spark is too cramped, check out the Chevy Malibu. You’ll notice a definite upgrade with the style, space, and standard features—but the Malibu doesn’t sacrifice fuel efficiency. This sedan gets 29-30 mpg in the city and 36-38 mpg on the highway for a combined 26-30 mpg.

Consumer Reports and Kelley Blue Book have similar qualms about the Malibu—active safety features are only optional (not standard), and the engine is just so-so. With a starting MSRP of $23,400, drivers might want to search out Chevy competitors.

If you feel like shopping around for a small car that gets great mileage, look into the

Most fuel-efficient Chevy SUVs

Chevy’s got an extensive SUV lineup, but their gas mileage isn’t anything to write home about. Of the seven SUVs, the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is the one with the best gas mileage. Expect to pay a bit more for this subcompact SUV, which starts at $21,600 MSRP.

The Chevy Trailblazer is available in four trims with the option of an upgraded 1.3-liter engine. This packs 155 hp while getting 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for a combined 31 mpg. Unlike the Spark, the Chevy Trailblazer is generous with its safety and infotainment features.

If you’re willing to give up a little fuel efficiency for a more powerful SUV, the

Chevrolet Equinox

is a good choice. Starting at $25,800 MSRP, it is pricier, but it’s powered by a 1.5-liter engine that gets 170 hp. The four-wheel drive Equinox gets a decent 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway for a combined 28 mpg. The all-wheel drive model gets 1 mpg less.

It runs between $24,690 MSRP for hybrid models and $39,090 MSRP in its battery-electric form. In exchange for the slightly higher price point, you’ll enjoy the best fuel-efficiency.

Of Chevrolet’s two pickup trucks, the smaller 2022

Chevy Colorado

gets slightly better gas mileage with engine upgrades—although it’s still nothing to brag about. The base model Colorado with a four-cylinder engine and two-wheel drive gets 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway for a combined 22 mpg.

You’d think that the Silverado—Chevrolet’s larger truck—would automatically get worse gas mileage, but it’s complicated. If you go with the base

with two-wheel drive, you’ll actually get around the same mileage as the base Chevy Colorado. Without all the optional engine upgrades or four-wheel drive, the Silverado averages 19 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway for a combined 22 mpg.

If you upgrade the engine to a 3.6-liter V6 engine or choose the four-wheel drive option for either the Colorado or Silverado, fuel efficiency drops slightly.

To truly make the pain at the pump go away, look for hybrid options. More truck manufacturers are producing stylish, powerful trucks that compete with classics like Chevrolet. Look into the 2022
