drivers, you’re in luck! Car owners can have decorative frames on their license plates, just be sure that it does not cover any pertinent information such as your plate number and registration decals.
Adding personalization to your vehicle, whether a decorative frame or bumper sticker, can be a great way to show your interests, support your favorite sports team, or even advertise a business.
With that being said, every state has its own rules and policies when it comes to license plates. Before you go out and buy that new frame or cover, you must ensure that it meets your state’s requirements and does not cover any important information like your plate number.

What are the rules for license plate frames in Arkansas?

According to
Arkansas Code Title 27
, license plates “shall be maintained free from foreign materials and in a condition to be clearly legible.”
Essentially, this means that Arkansas drivers are allowed to have
license plate
frames just as long as they do not cover or obstruct any part of the license plate, including your license plate number and tags. This includes avoiding obstruction of the word “ARKANSAS” on your plate, as well.

What about license plate covers?

Although frames are permissible as long as they don’t cover your plate’s number and registration details, covers are prohibited. Arkansas law makes it explicitly clear that your plate must be clearly visible and free from anything “which makes the license plate more difficult to read or which reduces the reflective properties.”
There are exceptions to this, however. Drivers are allowed to have a plate cover if it is fitted according to manufacturer specifications or installed on the following:
  • Trailer hitches
  • A trailer that is being towed by a motor vehicle
  • Wheelchair lift or rack
  • Bicycle rack

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
