The 2020 Cadillac CT4-V sedan’s Park Assist feature can warn you when objects get too close to your vehicle while reversing and parking. For the 2020 model year, both Front Park Assist and Rear Park Assist features are available.
Most drivers will agree: attempting to squeeze into tight parking spaces is one of the low points of driving. But if you’re looking to spare yourself from the adrenaline rush, the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V’s Park Assist feature in combination with your back-up camera can provide the guidance you need to pull off a seamless parking job.
Here’s what the 2020 Cadillac CT-V’s Park Assist feature does and how it works—plus a list of Cadillacs that offer Enhanced Park Assist if you’re looking for even more hands-on help.

How to activate 2020 Cadillac CT4-V Park Assist

While some vehicles have Park Assist features that will handle your braking, steering, and accelerating while parking, the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V’s Park Assist isn’t autonomous, and you’ll still need to control the actual task of parking yourself.
The 2020 Cadillac CT4-V’s Park Assist feature uses ultrasonic sensors to gauge the distance between your vehicle and other objects while parking and reversing. When objects appear too close, you’ll get a warning from the system.
You’ll need to drive at a speed of 7 mph or slower for the system to work. When the Park Assist feature is ready to go, the Park Assist button will illuminate, or you can manually turn the feature on and off with the button.
Rear Park Assist is standard on all
trim levels
above the base-level Luxury, while Front Park Assist is an optional feature.
The 2020 Cadillac CT4-V’s park assist system can detect objects up to about 6 feet behind the vehicle, about 4 feet in front of the vehicle, and about 10 inches above the ground and below the vehicle’s bumper level. However, Cadillac cautions these ranges might be slightly smaller in warm and/or humid weather, and blocked or overly dirty sensors can create room for error.
It’s important to remember that the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V’s Park Assist feature is just that—an assistance tool. You’ll still need to be aware of your surroundings and to watch out for missed or moving objects in your environment to pull off a safe parking job, including kids, animals, and pedestrians.
When Park Assist is activated, here’s how it works:
  • Some instrument clusters might have a display with bars showing the distance to a particular object. More bars will light up as the object gets closer, and their colors will change from yellow to amber to red.
  • When an object is detected about 2 feet from the rear bumper, you’ll hear five warning beeps followed by a continuous beep, and/or you’ll feel both sides of the Safety Alert Seat pulse five times.
  • When an object is detected about a foot from the front of the vehicle, you’ll hear a continuous warning beep (with a higher pitch than the rear warning) or get five pulses from the Safety Alert Seat.
If your CT-V’s Park Assist system appears to be having problems, check your owner’s manual for more information and possible next steps.

Do all Cadillacs have Park Assist?

Most newer Cadillacs that have come out over the last decade or so have standard or optional Park Assist features—but that trend was slightly interrupted for the 2022 model year.
Ongoing chip shortages in recent years have limited the availability of Park Assist features on certain 2022 Cadillac models where they usually would have been available, including the XT4, XT5, and XT6. The CT4, CT5, and the Escalade, however, were ones that got to keep the feature.

Which Cadillacs have Enhanced Park Assist?

While not available on the Cadillac CT4, some Cadillacs have Enhanced Parking Assist or Automatic Parking Assist systems, which allow the vehicle to brake, steer, and accelerate for you to park the car.
Depending on the model year and trim level, the following Cadillacs have had some form of the feature available:
The best way to determine whether a particular model has the Park Assist feature you’re looking for is to check with a Cadillac dealership.
