background
Most 2019
Ford F-150s
are equipped with either 23- or 26-gallon gas tanks. An extended range 36-gallon gas tank is also available.
When you purchase a new truck, it’s important to know how much gas it takes. Knowing the size of your fuel tank allows you to estimate how much your truck will cost to fill. It also helps you estimate your truck’s range—handy knowledge for long road trips.
You can figure out exactly how big the gas tank is on your 2019 Ford F-150 by checking your owner’s manual. But if you’ve misplaced it, don’t worry.

How big is the gas tank on a 2019 Ford F-150?

The size of your 2019 Ford F-150’s gas tank typically depends on its cab configuration.
F-150 gas tanks range from 23 gallons to 36 gallons:
  • Regular Cab and
    SuperCab
    F-150s sport 23-gallon tanks
  • SuperCrew
    F-150s have 26-gallontanks
All configurations may be upgraded with a 36-gallon extended range tank

How to check your 2021 Ford F-150’s gas tank size

While we swear the above gas tank sizes are accurate, you don’t need to take our word for it. There are many easy ways you can verify the size of your gas tank.

Check your owner’s manual

As mentioned, this is the quickest and easiest way to verify the size of your gas tank. Just open up your owner’s manual, and flip to the glossary or index to look for the page number associated with “fuel tank capacity” or something similar.

Drive till empty, then fill it up

Lost your owner’s manual? Still want to verify the size of your gas tank? Not a problem!
Simply drive your truck until it’s just about out of gas. Then, take it to a gas station and fill it up. Make sure you keep enough gas in the tank so that you don’t get stuck on the way, though.
This method will give you an accurate-enough idea of the size of your fuel tank, but it won’t be 100% precise.

Measure the gas tank

If you really want to go all out, measure your gas tank and calculate its volume! Take a measuring tape and determine the width, length, and height of your tank in inches. Multiply all three figures together, and you’ll have its volume in inches cubed.
Divide the product by 231 (the number of cubic inches in one gallon) to arrive at your F-150’s gas tank capacity.

How to save on fuel costs in a Ford F-150

The 2019 Ford F-150 has a fuel economy rating of 20 mpg combined city/highway. That will vary a bit based on your trim—but not dramatically.
You probably didn’t buy an F-150 for its fuel efficiency, but there are still plenty of ways you can save at the pump:
  • Perform routine maintenance. Simple routine maintenance items like regular oil changes prevent small problems from becoming big ones and maximize your engine’s efficiency.
  • Drive economically. Accelerate slowly and don’t drive any faster than necessary.
  • Don’t idle. Idling wastes a lot of gas without getting you anywhere. Avoid the temptation to run your car’s AC or heat prior to leaving.

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
