How to check Volkswagen Jetta tire pressure
If your Volkswagen Jetta is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), it will alert you to issues with your tire pressure with a message on your dash. However, it won’t tell you what your tire pressure is. That’s why it’s important to not only know how to check your car’s tire pressure but also to ensure you do so regularly.
Luckily, checking tire pressure is one of the simplest aspects of car ownership—all you need is
a tire pressure gauge
. To check your tire pressure, follow these steps:- Remove the cap from the valve stem on the tire.
- Press the tire gauge over the open valve stem. You should hear a slight hiss of air when you do this.
- Remove the gauge and read the air pressure. Digital gauges will display the PSI number, but manual gauges will use a dial or a bar that shoots out with measurements.
- Compare the gauge reading with the recommended tire pressure for your vehicle.
- Repeat this process for each tire and add or release air as necessary.
While many new Jettas offer a high-tech system to keep track of your tire pressure for you, even older cars and those not outfitted with tire pressure monitoring systems can alert you to low-tire pressure. If you notice you’re not getting the gas mileage you used to, your car is riding unevenly, or your steering is pulling in one direction or another, you may have low tire pressure in one or more of your tires.

Like your engine oil and other routine maintenance items, you should check your tire pressure once a month. You should also always give your tires a quick check before you head out on a long trip.
How to tell if your Volkswagen Jetta needs new tires

How to reset the Volkswagen Jetta tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light
While the Jetta’s TPMS can be a huge help in alerting you to low tire pressure, it can also be a bit of a pain if it won’t turn off after the problem has been addressed. Usually, it will do this on its own, but if you notice you’re still getting a warning after you’ve refilled your tires, you may need to
reset your TPMS
