The best windshield wipers for a Toyota RAV4

Windshield wipers function to whisk away water and debris away from your windshield so that you can see the road clearly. Over time, normal wear and tear will degrade the rubber blade on the windshield wipers. The wipers stop effectively clearing the windshield, you’ll need to replace the blades—just make sure to buy the right kind!
Wiper blades come in a wide variety of styles and sizes. For the best match, you can always purchase the same blades that originally come installed on the RAV4.

Alternatively, you can buy aftermarket blades from a separate company as long as they’re the right size and shape. If you’re considering buying aftermarket blades, you can’t go wrong buying any of these three options:
Once you choose which brand of wiper you’d like to buy, you still need to get the right size. Wipers for the Toyota RAV4 typically range between 10 and 24 inches, depending on the year it was manufactured. Take a look at the table below to figure out exactly what size blades your RAV4 will need.

How to replace Toyota RAV4 windshield wipers

Depending on the climate in your area and how often your drive your RAV4, you usually need to replace its windshield wiper blades every 6 to 12 months
Fortunately, replacing windshield wiper blades is very easy and only takes about five minutes or so. To start, put your Toyota in park and put the windshield wipers into the service position. If you’re not sure how to do that, don’t worry—the process is described in detail below!

How to put Toyota RAV4 windshield wipers in service position

To put Toyota RAV4 windshield wipers into service position, you’ll need to turn the vehicle completely off. Then within 45 seconds, change the wiper mode to mist. Hold it there for at least 2 seconds. And that’s it! You can now manually lift the blades away from the windshield so that they are sticking straight up and pointing toward the nose of the car.
Once you’re finished installing the new blades, you can shift them back out of service position by manually laying them back down again the glass and activating the windshield wiper function.

How to replace Toyota RAV4 wiper blades

Once the windshield wipers are in the service position, changing the blades becomes pretty straightforward.
There should be a locking pin or “tab” at the base of the wiper arm where it meets the hinge. Using two fingers, squeeze the tab and it will release the rubber wiper blade. After that, you’ll just need to slide the blade along the grooves in the arm, up and off the windshield wipers.
Next, you’ll take the new wiper blades and slide them down and in along the same grooves. Once the blade is on, it should latch into the locking pin with a somewhat satisfying click. And that’s it—you’ve just replaced your first windshield wiper blade!
Repeat the process for any of the other blades that need replacing. They wear our more or less evenly, so you’ll usually end up replacing them all at the same time.
