How does Porsche Roadside Assistance work?

Included with every Porsche New Car Limited Warranty or Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty is Porsche’s Roadside Assistance program, a free 24-hour service for accessing aid in the event of a roadside emergency.
The standard duration of Porsche warranties for new purchases is 4 years or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first); for CPO Porsches, the warranty is only 2 years but with unlimited mileage. In either case, roadside assistance services will be included as a complimentary benefit of your vehicle’s warranty.
From flat tires to more serious mechanical problems, Porsche Roadside Assistance offers the following services:
  • Emergency towing services up to 50 miles
  • Battery jump starts
  • Flat-tire changes
  • Lock-out assistance
  • Emergency fuel delivery
  • Out of charge service (towing to a dealership for suspected mechanical issues)
  • Extrication/winching services
  • Trip interruption reimbursement
While the majority of these services remain free under your vehicle’s warranty, it’s important to know you may be subject to some towing and labor charges in certain circumstances. For example, if you lock your keys in your car, you may have to pay directly for the cost of a replacement.

How to use Porsche Roadside Assistance

So long as your car remains under warranty, you can access Porsche Roadside Assistance at any time by calling 1-800-PORSCHE (800-767-7243). From there, you’ll be connected with a professional advisor who can help you manage your emergency situation and send any necessary help to your location.
If your Porsche has been disabled in an accident, be sure to first attend to the health and safety of yourself and other drivers or passengers before attending to your vehicle. If necessary, call 911 for emergency medical services.
Once the scene is safe, try to document the damage sustained by your vehicle in the accident—you’ll need this information to help file a claim with your insurer. If you notice body damage on your Porsche, you can let your insurance company know you want your vehicle repaired by a
Porsche Approved Collision Center (PACC)

What if my Porsche warranty expired?

Once your Porsche’s warranty has expired, you won’t be able to freely access roadside assistance services. However, you can arrange to extend your Porsche’s warranty on a yearly basis at participating Porsche Centers. For more information on extending your vehicle’s warranty, you should
visit Porsche’s website
or contact your local dealership.

Is Porsche Roadside Assistance worth it?

Most Porsche drivers agree that the manufacturer’s roadside assistance program is worth the money. As a luxury car company, Porsche tends to provide an added layer of personalization and support when it comes to vehicle maintenance problems and assistance—not to mention these services are typically free under your warranty anyways!
Once your warranty has expired, though, you’ll have to pay out-of-pocket to utilize the same services (unless you choose to extend your Porsche’s warranty) which can result in footing some potentially hefty bills.
If you’re looking for a roadside assistance program that doesn’t break your bank, however, there are alternatives to Porsche’s manufacturer-owned program that may suit your needs instead.

Alternatives to Porsche Roadside Assistance

If your Porsche’s warranty’s expired and you’re not interested in extending it, fear not! There are other options available to you for roadside assistance, such as:
  • AAA: While AAA may not offer the extent of services typically available through your Porsche’s warranty, they’re still a popular alternative to manufacturer-offered roadside assistance programs. With emergency coverage for flat tires and towing, and memberships starting at $59 a year, AAA is a budget-friendly alternative that you can count on.
  • Towing and labor coverage: For under $20 a year, you can add
    towing and labor coverage
to your existing insurance policy—although your insurer may first require you to be carrying
    collision
    and
    comprehensive
    coverage.
  • Cell phone companies: Some cell carriers may offer enrollment in roadside assistance programs for as little as $5 a month—but not every provider does, so you’ll want to check with yours.
Of course, if you’re already carrying full coverage on your Porsche, purchasing roadside assistance coverage directly through your existing insurer may be the most cost-effective move.
