Yes—the 2023 Nissan Kicks has Apple CarPlay as a standard feature across all three trim levels. Nissan first introduced this iPhone-compatible feature in 2017, but it would not become available for the Nissan Kicks until 2018.

So what is Apple CarPlay anyway? In the fundamental sense, Apple CarPlay makes it safer to use your phone or other iOS device in the car, as it turns the radio head unit/infotainment system into both a display and controller for the device—which means you don’t have to keep looking down at your phone and can keep your eyes on the road.

How do you use Apple CarPlay?

Alright, now you know that the 2023 Nissan Kicks has Apple CarPlay—but do you know how to use it? To enable Apple CarPlay in your Nissan Kicks, you’ll need to go to your phone’s settings and select “Siri & Search,” at which point you’ll need to turn on the following icons:

Listen for “Hey Siri?”

Press Side Button for Siri

Allow Siri When Locked

After turning these icons on, plug your iPhone into one of the vehicle’s USB ports. The center console will then display a message asking if you want to use Apple CarPlay with this device—select “Yes” and Apple CarPlay will be enabled.

By default, the system will display this message any time you plug your phone in—if you want to set it so that Apple CarPlay will automatically connect whenever your phone is plugged in, follow the instructions below:

Press the “Menu” button.

Select “Connections.”

Touch “Apps” and then select the “i” icon next to your device’s name.

Set the “Enable after USB Connection” option to “Always.”

Once your phone is connected using the Apple CarPlay feature, the center console display will show your iPhone’s available functions and apps, such as “Phone,” “Maps,” “Spotify,” etc. To select an app, simply tap on its icon.

If you want to activate Siri while Apple CarPlay is enabled, press and hold the “TALK” button on your steering wheel. Press the “TALK” button again to shut Siri off. Keep in mind, however, that not all of Siri’s functions are available when driving, as safety is still the top priority.
