How to replace Mazda 3 windshield wipers

Experts recommend replacing your wiper blades every 12 months, but you may notice wear and tear before that milestone, especially if you drive in an area with frequent rain or snow. Extra precipitation means harder work for your windshield wipers, so residents of
Seattle
or
Syracuse
may find that their wiper blades give up the ghost more often than drivers in sunny
Phoenix
.
When you notice that your wipers are struggling to clean your windshield or leaving your view streaky, it’s time to replace them. Luckily, replacing your wiper blades is one of the quickest and easiest at-home maintenance tasks you can do! Just follow the directions below to replace the windshield wipers on your Mazda 3.

How to put Mazda 3 windshield wipers in service position

To start, make sure your wipers are in the service position. What does that mean? Essentially, the service position stops your wipers at the top of their stroke so you can easily access and replace the blades. To get there, turn the ignition on and off, then push the wiper switch to MIST 2x within 30 seconds of turning the ignition off. The blades should stop neatly in the service position, and you’re ready to go!

How to replace Mazda 3 wiper blades

Now that your wipers are set up in the ideal position, you’re ready to swap out those old blades for a fresh set.
  • Remove the blade component from the wiper arm using the release tab
  • Slide out the old wiper blade
  • Slide the new blade into place, making sure it’s snugly in place in the groove
  • Return the blade component to its place on the wiper arm
  • Test the new blades by turning the ignition on and selecting MIST on the wiper switch
And there you have it—brand new wiper blades set to keep your windshield bright and clean! If you discover a problem with the wiper arm itself, you’ll need to take the car to a mechanic for a fix, but replacing wiper blades at home couldn’t be easier.

How to save on Mazda insurance

Just like wiper blades, your
car insurance
policy is something you probably don’t think twice about until things go wrong. You pay your bill as usual every month, but then an accident or a ticket sends your rate spiking skyward, leaving you saddled with an unexpected monthly cost.
You can always shop for a new policy, but switching car insurance is a lot harder than swapping out wiper blades—that is, until
