No vehicle make or model is without problems. While some vehicles are more reliable than others, as you add miles, you’ll inevitably need to make repairs to something.
To better prepare for some of the costs associated with some of those repairs, it can be helpful to know what issues your vehicle tends to be prone to developing.

Most common Infiniti G37 problems

Average annual repair cost: $540
CarComplaints.com complaints: 66
The 2009 model has the highest number of NHTSA complaints out of any G37. The most common complaint relates to the passenger airbag warning light coming on unnecessarily, making drivers question whether the airbag would work properly in a crash. To date, no recalls have been issued for the 2009 Infiniti G37.
The passenger airbag light is also a common complaint with the 2011 G37. One recall was issued for the power window switch controller.

Most common Infiniti G35 problems

Average annual repair cost: $476
CarComplaints.com complaints: 49
2003 was the most problematic year for the G35. This year had the highest number of recalls (seven) related to fuel filler hose cracking, crank and cam position sensor weld issues, and exterior lighting problems
Transmission problems, brake problems, steering rack leaking, and interior accessories problems are also common complaints connected to the G35.

Most common Infiniti FX35 problems

Average annual repair cost: $617
CarComplaints.com complaints: 22
First-generation FX35s are infamous for an unusual and unsightly problem: melting dashboards. This was also a problem with certain
Toyota
and
Lexus
models around the same time, but no recalls were issued for the Infiniti FX35.
Other problems related to recalls with the
FX35
include airbag problems, exterior lighting problems, and fuel filler hose cracking

Most common Infiniti Q50 problems

Average annual repair cost: $648
CarComplaints.com complaints: 43
2014
Infiniti Q50s
have the highest number of recalls and complaints about the model. Those recalls include problems related to unexpected vehicle acceleration, steering, and airbag deployment.

Most common Infiniti QX56 problems

Average annual repair cost: $807
CarComplaints.com complaints: 39
Like several other Infiniti models, the 2008 Infiniti QX56 had a recall relating to faulty airbags.
Other complaints include cracked radiators, fuel system problems, and transmission issues. Some 2011 Infiniti QX56 drivers have also complained about prematurely peeling paint, which isn’t an issue you want to come across on a luxury vehicle.

Are Infiniti cars reliable?

Infiniti generally gets average reliability ratings from experts. Infiniti models have commonly received recognition from J.D. Power for their reliability, and Repair Pal gives Infiniti 3.5 stars out of 5 for reliability.
According to Repair Pal, repairs on Infiniti models generally cost an average of $638 per year, slightly less than its average across all models. It rates the average frequency of an Infiniti visiting a repair shop 0.7 times per year for unscheduled repairs, which is higher than the average of 0.4 across all models. 10% of repairs on Infiniti models were deemed “severe,” slightly less than the average of 12% for all vehicles.

The least reliable Infiniti model: 2003 Infiniti G35

Most common problem: Electrical system problems
NHTSA complaints: 526
One of Infiniti’s compact luxury cars, the 2003 Infiniti G35 has had seven recalls to date and 526 complaints reported to the NHTSA. The most common complaints detail problems with the vehicle’s electrical system, including climate controls, crankshaft and camshaft position sensors (for which a related recall was issued), and exterior lighting.
Recalls for the
G35
are related to problems with the fuel filler hose cracking, brake light switch issues, and clutch problems.

The most reliable Infiniti model: 2021 Infiniti Q50

Most common problems: Potential steering problems, engine stalling
NHTSA complaints: 1
The 2021 Q50 is a generally reliable Infiniti model. J.D. Power gave the luxury sedan a quality and reliability rating of 83 out of 100, which is considered slightly above average. To date, only one complaint has been reported to the NHTSA.
The 2021 Infiniti Q50 has had a few serious recalls, however. The engine control module on certain Q50s may reduce engine power and cause it to unexpectedly stall, and an issue with the steering knuckle or rear axle housing can increase the risk of a crash.
