How to replace Honda CR-V wiper blades

First, you’ll need to remove the old Honda CR-V wiper blades:
  • Pop the windshield wiper arms up and away from the glass.
  • Locate the small clip on the back of your current wiper blade that’s holding it in place.
  • Pull the clip upward to unlock the wiper blade.
  • Push the wiper blade backward as if you were sliding it down the wiper arm until it pops out of place.
  • Discard the old wiper blade.
Pro tip:  Place a blanket or towel on the windshield to prevent the metal wiper arms from damaging the glass if they swing back down while you’re changing them.
Next, you’ll need to attach the replacement Honda CR-V wiper blades:
  • Line up the new wiper blade with the metal arm hook, making sure you have the correct blade and that it’s facing the right direction.
  • Lock the wiper blade in place, listening for an audible click.
  • Remove any padding from the windshield and gently lower the wiper to its normal position.
  • Turn on your car and use the windshield washer function to test your new windshield wiper.
Your new wiper blades should easily clear the field of vision on your Honda CR-V windshield. If not, double-check that you’ve used a compatible replacement blade and that you’ve installed them on your Honda CR-V in the right direction.

When should you replace your Honda CR-V windshield wiper blades?

Generally, you should replace windshield wiper blades at least once every six to 12 months as part of your
basic car maintenance schedule
. Check the specifications from the specific brand of your Honda CR-V windshield wiper to see if they provide a life expectancy.
Examine your Honda CR-V windshield wiper blades once a month or so for the following signs that they need to be replaced:
  • They leave major streaks on your windshield.
  • They make loud squeaking or scraping sounds.
  • The rubber is chipped or torn.
Keep in mind: In some cases, your windshield wipers may just need a good cleaning. Use a cloth and an all-purpose cleaner to gently wipe down the blades and the area of the windshield where they rest.
