The recommended

tire pressure is 35 pounds per square inch (PSI) on all four tires.
We get it—stopping at the gas station to use a coin-op air pump or hauling your heavy air compressor out of the garage can be an annoying task. But, it is nonetheless an essential duty of owning a vehicle.
Tires with improper pressure (too low or too high) can decrease fuel efficiency, impact your ability to steer, and increase your risk of a blowout—all bad things.
So to avoid these issues, let

What is the right tire pressure for a GMC Terrain?

The correct tire pressure for a GMC Terrain is 35 PSI for both the front and rear tires. This specification remains consistent across model years (2010 to present) and trim levels (SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali).
Of course, this is only true if your GMC Terrain is equipped with stock tires. High-performance or winter tires may require a different tire pressure. You can
read your tire
to verify the customized tire pressure.

How to check GMC Terrain tire pressure

Considering the GMC Terrain didn’t debut until 2010, all models are modern enough to have a digital dashboard interface to check your tire pressure. You can locate this by selecting the information menu and scrolling until you find tire pressure. If you need further assistance, reference the
owner’s manual
for your GMC Terrain.
Prefer to do it the old-fashioned way? You can
manually check using a tire pressure gauge
. And if you discover that your tire pressure is too low, you can follow these instructions on

.

How often should you check tire pressure?

It's advised to check your tire pressure once a month or before long trips.
However, if you happen to forget, all GMC models made after 2007 will notify you through the built-in Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) if any of your tires falls more than 25% below the manufacturer’s recommended PSI level.

How to tell if your GMC Terrain needs new tires

Is it time for new tires? Plenty of variables influence the answer to this question, like the type of tire, driving habits, road conditions, and more. But a general rule of thumb is that tires should be replaced every six to 10 years
Although, no matter how old your tires are, you’ll always want to watch out for low tread depth or odd cracks and bulges. You can test the condition of your tread by using the penny method: stick a US penny Lincoln’s-head-first into the tire tread. If you can see the top of the 16th President’s head, it’s time for new tires.
Bonus Tip Rotating your tires every 7,500 miles can help extend the life of your tires by evenly dispersing natural wear and tear.

How to reset the GMC Terrain tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light

Even after you fill your tires up to the proper PSI, the tire pressure warning light may sometimes fail to turn off. In this scenario, you will have to
reset your TPMS
.
To begin this process, turn the ignition key to the “ON” position without starting the engine. Then, locate the information menu and scroll until you see the tire pressure option.
Once here, you will be given the option to enter relearn mode—click “yes” to continue. The horn will sound twice, signaling that you have begun the relearning process.
Now, grab your TPMS Relearn Tool, place it against each tire’s sidewall (starting with the driver-side front tire), and press the activate button—a single horn chirp will indicate successful registration. Next, move clockwise and register the rest of the tires.
Finish the process by turning off your ignition. Your TPMS is now reset, and your tire pressure warning light should be deactivated (as long as your tires are correctly pressurized).
If this is too complicated or you don’t have a TPMS Relearn Tool handy, your mechanic can reset your system for roughly $35 to $44, according to RepairPal.
