Chevy Silverado climate control reset instructions
When your Silverado is experiencing climate control system problems, there are several potential causes. The most likely reason is an electrical problem. Problems with the electrical system can cause a wonky issue, like one side of your vehicle blowing out warm air while the other blows out cold, or it may cause a complete cooling system failure.
Either way, you’ll want to reset the HVAC fuse, and although that sounds pretty technical, the process is beginner-friendly and should only take a few minutes!
Step 1: Turn the car off. You’ll be working with the fuse box and want the car off so you don’t get electrocuted.
Step 2: Locate the fuse box under the hood. The fuse box in a Chevy Silverado should be under the hood and on the driver’s side, but consult your specific year of Silverado’s owner’s manual to be sure.
Step 3: Find and remove the HVAC fuse. Keep that manual out to ensure you’ll be pulling the correct fuse.
Step 4: Pull the fuse out, wait 10 seconds, then reconnect it. Fuses can be delicate so you should handle them with extra care and a fuse puller if you have one.
Step 5: Wait two minutes, then start the car. Once you’ve replaced the HVAC fuse correctly, wait two minutes and turn your vehicle back on.
These steps should lead you to a climate control reset, but you’ll need to troubleshoot if they do not.

If, after your climate control reset attempt, the AC is still not working, you’re likely experiencing a different issue than an electrical one. Here are some other common problems that could be affecting your Silverado’s air conditioner.
Leaking refrigerant

The blend door actuator is a small motor in the AC system that controls the air distribution. You’ll notice this issue if the air temperature coming out of your vents is inconsistent and not the right temperature.

Chevy Silverado climate control problems are typically caused by one of the above issues, but can result from several malfunctions. It may be an electrical or wiring issue, a filthy cabin air filter, a loose hose, or something else entirely.
