OEM wheel size: The abbreviation “OEM” stands for “Original Equipment Manufacturer.” The OEM wheel size is the standard or “original” size of the wheels your Acura came with. To change out the rims, you’ll need to match the right size.
Lug pattern: Also known as the bolt pattern, this figure indicates the number of lug holes followed by the diameter of the circle they form (which determines the distance they are spaced). You’ll need to know this pattern to find a wheel that fits your Acura.
Offset: This number indicates the distance from the hub mounting surface to the center line of the wheel. If your car’s offset is positive, the hub mounting surface will be more toward the front of your wheel’s centerline; if it’s negative, the mounting surface is behind it. One way you can begin to tell the difference is by looking: if the wheels seem like they’re sticking out, the offset is probably negative.
Stud size: Stud sizes indicate the size of your wheel’s fasteners—an essential component when attaching new wheels. In the U.S., these dimensions are expressed as stud diameter x threads per inch (e.g., 1/2x20), while metric fasteners are conveyed as stud diameter x distance between threads (e.g., 14mm x 1.50).
Center bore: The opening that centers your wheel on the hub is known as the center bore. It also helps reduce vibrations from your wheels when you’re driving. Sizes can vary depending on your model, so it’s important to check yours before changing out your rims.
How to measure your Acura’s lug pattern
If you can’t seem to find your Acura on the table above, you can always determine your lug pattern yourself with a ruler and some measuring tape:
- If your wheel has an even number of lug holes, you should measure from the center of one lug hole to the center of the one directly across from it.
- If your wheel has an odd number of lug holes, you’ll have to measure from the center of one lug hole to the outside edge of the hole directly across from it.
