How big is a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica auxiliary battery?

The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica’s auxiliary battery is a 250 CCA AUX14/Group 400 battery. Disregard any mention of a 750 CCA/120 RC Group 7 H battery—that’s the primary battery size.
So much for the answer—now what does it mean?
Well, CCA, or Cold Cranking Amps, measures how many amps a battery can deliver at 0°F for 30 seconds while maintaining at least 7.2 volts. With a rating of 250, the Pacifica Auxiliary’s battery isn’t very strong, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s not responsible for the enormous job of starting the car.
AUX14/Group 400 refers to size. AUX14/Group 400 batteries are small auxiliary power packs with positive and negative terminals on either side of their tops. The batteries in this category measure approximately six inches long, three-and-a-half inches wide, and five-and-a-half inches high (150 x 88 x 143 mm).
When replacing a battery, pay attention to the battery group. You won't be able to fit an oversized battery under your hood, while an undersized one could shake itself to pieces. It’s also important to note the Pacifica’s auxiliary battery location, which is to the left of the main battery under the hood.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica auxiliary battery life

Car batteries usually last for four to five years, but it all depends on your driving habits.
You can drain your battery by running a lot of gadgets, leaving your lights on, and driving in a cold climate. You can avoid getting stuck in your driveway if you test the batteries regularly, but you should also be on the lookout for signs like
  • Odd clicking noises during ignition
  • Corrosion on the battery terminals and cables
  • Frequent non-starts
  • Dim interior lights
What mechanics and car fans debate is whether or not an empty auxiliary battery can drain your main battery. The two share a circuit with the alternator and are used to drawing power through their terminals to recharge. While there’s no consensus, we advise you to err on the side of caution and replace a failing auxiliary battery as soon as possible.
Fortunately, car batteries aren't too expensive, and auxiliary batteries are even cheaper. The Mopar parts store sells
genuine OEM batteries
for $146.

How to keep your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica auxiliary battery healthy

By changing your driving habits, you can
save money on gas
and prolong the life of your auxiliary battery. Things to keep in mind:
  • Keep your car on the road. As long as your car is running, the alternator recharges your battery, so if it's parked, you're not getting any juice. You should take your car out at least once a week for 15 minutes at a time.
  • Manually recharge your car's battery. If you're putting your car in storage, you should remove the battery and leave it plugged in. Pop it back in and connect the terminals when you get back.
  • Don't leave the lights on. All the lights in your car consume electricity. Before you leave your car, make sure everything is off.
  • Unplug all your gadgets. Chargers, fans, and martini makers all consume power when plugged in. Be sure to disconnect them before leaving your vehicle.
  • Keep with your
    car maintenance schedule
. A malfunctioning light or inefficient part can cost you a lot of electricity without your knowledge. Your battery will last longer if you keep your car in good condition.
