2016 Buick Enclave engine oil capacity

Let’s get right to it: what’s the engine oil capacity of a 2016 Buick Enclave?
The V-6 engine that powers your Buick needs 6 quarts or 5.6 liters of oil each time it has an oil change. Keep in mind that your engine oil capacity is not the same as your engine’s displacement, which refers to the 3.6-liter volume your engine’s cylinders take up.
While the two volumes are easily confused with one another, their numbers are not interchangeable, so be sure to have the right one before changing your oil.

What kind of oil does a 2016 Buick Enclave need?

Now that we’ve covered how much oil your Enclave needs, let’s talk about what kind of oil is compatible with your vehicle. Instead of using any old 6-quart bottle, look for what the manufacturers recommend: 5W-30 full synthetic oil
Before you purchase the first synthetic oil you see on the shelf, let’s go over what an oil grade actually signifies. Put simply, the numbers represent how thick or viscous the oil will be at different temperatures.
In this case, the 5 tells us that the oil will be relatively thin at 0°F, while the number 30 tells us that the oil will remain relatively thin at 212°F.
Why does viscosity level matter? An oil with a lower viscosity level will result in less overall engine wear and tear while performing well in a variety of weather conditions.
Synthetic oil will improve the longevity of your motor oil, thereby increasing the length of time you can go between oil changes.

How often to change oil on a 2016 Buick Enclave

Now that you know the amount and type of oil you need, you’re ready to
change your oil
! So how do you know if your Enclave needs an oil change?
Buick recommends changing your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. However, you can adjust the timeframe between your oil changes depending on how often you’re driving and the type of oil you’re using.
If your vehicle spends more time in the driveway than on the highway, you can go a good six months before swapping out your oil. Likewise, if you’re using a synthetic oil, you can swap out your oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles
To ensure you’re replacing your oil when you need to, you can regularly inspectyour oil level (e.g., once a month or every other refuel). If you notice any of the following signs, your oil needs to be changed:
  • Motor oil looks dark brown or black
  • Motor oil feels coarse or gritty
  • Unfamiliar noises
or smells coming from the engine
  • Changes in your vehicle’s performance

How to change your oil and oil filter

Now that you know it’s time for an oil change, you can gather the materials you’ll need to replace your oil. Ensure you’re prepared with:
  • A socket wrench
  • A drain pan
  • A filter wrench
  • A replacement filter
  • Six quarts of synthetic 5W-30 engine oil
Follow the steps below to change your oil:
  • Run your engine for approximately 5 minutes. This will allow your engine to reach its normal operating temperature
  • Turn off the engine and pop the hood
  • Locate the oil reservoir and remove the oil fill cap
  • Remove the oil drain bolt and washer
  • Allow the old oil to drain into the pan
  • Remove the old oil filter and continue to drain the oil
  • Once the old oil has drained, install the new filter
  • With a new washer, reinstall the oil drain bolt
  • Refill the engine with new oil
  • Replace the fill cap
Before you drive off, ensure the oil change was completed correctly by running the vehicle and watching for any leaks. Your Enclave’s dashboard
oil pressure light
should turn off.
Last but not least: cleanup! Never dump the dirty oil on the ground or in a garbage bin. Instead, transfer the oil into a sealed container and bring it to a participating recycling center.

Don’t forget regular insurance policy maintenance

And there you have it—in a few simple steps, you’ve got fresh oil in your Buick and you’ve saved on the cost of a mechanic’s labor at a garage! Completing your own vehicle maintenance will keep your 2016 Buick Enclave running for miles to come while saving you time and money.
