Unfortunately, Mazda waited a while to make Apple CarPlay a standard feature. They only began including it in 2019. At the same time, Mazda dealerships offered to retrofit 2014 and newer models. If you’re driving a

Does the 2013 Mazda CX-5 have Apple CarPlay?

No, the 2013 Mazda CX-5 doesn’t come with Apple CarPlay.Mazda only began offering this feature in 2019, so the 2013 CX-5 has a touch-screen infotainment system that offers navigation through TomTom, Bluetooth capability, satellite radio through SiriusXM, and a single-disc CD player.
If you don’t want to lose these features, you can use the USB port to plug in your iPod. You won’t get all the features of Apple CarPlay, but you can access your music without having to replace the infotainment head unit.

How to add Apple CarPlay to a 2013 Mazda CX-5

Since Mazda dealerships can’t install Apple CarPlay on a 2013 Mazda CX-5, purchase an Apple CarPlay receiver head unit that has the latest software and Apple-compatible hardware. Schedule an appointment at your local car stereo shop and ask them to replace the head unit in your Mazda’s center console with the Apple CarPlay receiver.
An Apple CarPlay receiver head averages around $500. You can find them at stereo shops or online. You’ll also have to pay installation fees to have the stereo technicians remove and replace the head units.
Keep in mind that by doing this you’ll lose the CD capability and the included infotainment system—but you will be getting all the useful features of Apple CarPlay. Plus, you can enjoy your favorite Apple functions like Apple Maps, Siri, and Audible. It’s easy to personalize the apps that you frequently use so they’re easy to access.

How to enable Apple CarPlay in a 2013 Mazda CX-5

When you’re ready to use Apple CarPlay in your Mazda, connect your iPhone to your Mazda’s USB port and put your stereo in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then, check that Auto-Join is turned on. To enable Apple CarPlay, press Settings > General > CarPlay and select your car.

Which Mazda models have Apple CarPlay?

Mazda was a little late to include Apple CarPlay, so it’s only equipped on newer vehicles. Most Mazda dealerships won’t have the hardware for installing Apple CarPlay on models before 2019.
If you’re shopping for a new or used Mazda and Apple CarPlay is a must, it’s easiest to buy a vehicle that already includes it. Check this list of current Mazda models that have the system.
